Did well yesterday if he is alongside a Mina or a dominant CB he can be the dynamic one with the pace who clears up. He needs to cut out the errors and tighten up his marking but he is still relatively young in centre back terms.

That's no bad thing, right? Always thought Keown developed into a great Premier league defender for Arsenal.

….I think it’s composure and quality on and off the ball, Zat. He’s got a Rolls Royce engine but he’s not got Rolls Royce quality.

The top ones have physicality that makes them superior, they run alongside strikers knowing they’re in control. I actually see a bit of that in Branthwaite. Godfrey is raw on and off the ball, he reminds me lots of Keown. Nightmare to play against, though.

When I see our line up, I’m happy to see him as first choice CB. I’m a big fan of Godfrey, I have been since he signed but you have to reassess your view, I wouldn’t pick him for England.

i don’t want to be critical of individuals but there was no Holgate or Kenny today. I don’t think it was a coincidence that United didn’t have a free kick in a very dangerous position around the edge of the box.

Ive also compared him with Keown...man to man marking looks very good to me.

He just needs a stable top notch partner imo

….yep, I’ve said Godfrey/Keown are similar types on here many times. Raw, powerful, fast, abrasive, aggressive, competitive, uncompromising, tough as teak.
