He is already struggling with his positional sense and people want him to play another. If either of our CBs are being switched and personally I wouldn't switch any it should be Holgate. CB or nowhere for this lad don't ruin another player by switching him round the team. The only role he could even play is DM which is Allan's best position so them we would not be getting the best out of Allan either.

The first couple of games were awful — my breathing — and I found myself fatiguing really early on in games, even after a single sprint when normally I’d back myself to be up and down,” he said.

“I’d be blowing in the first few minutes — it was mad… you can’t describe it unless you’ve experienced it. It was like you had someone else’s body. I’d make a sprint and it’d feel like I’d played 88 minutes, even though it was five minutes into a game.

“The past couple of games I’ve felt a lot better and more or less back to myself now, which has been good.”

Just seen those quotes from him, and honestly that's exactly how I've felt after COVID.

It really is indescribable unless you've been affected by it in a similar way, and everybody is different.

Just reading a piece in The Athletic now about it, how they were worried his heart had swollen at times.

COVID isn't just a respiratory disease, it's absolutely crazy.
Just got over covid and even now just making a cuppa and I am blowing out my ar8e. Sleeping till midday and just absolutely drained. Just glad I was double jabbed and only got mild to moderate covid. I know Godfrey is an athlete and his recovery will be quicker but my God he must have been going through a bad time.

You'd think some time in the U23s would have been a good idea rather than thrown into PL games out of position.

Feel bad for having a go at his performances, as someone who has suffered from Covid twice I can fully understand why he hasn't looked like the player he was last year.

Thing is nobody is having a go at his commitment, that is there, just his stamina isnt, he is giving it everything he has, but its only 60% of what he actual had last season. Its a shame he will proberbly be back on the bench at the weekend as game time would help him, but we cant risk it

That lab in Wuhan has a lot to answer for eh!

Hopefully Godfrey can get back to normal levels although I worry for him as he still looked knackered against West Ham.
Oh it absolutely came from that lab and anyone saying otherwise is as daft as the anti-vaxxers.

Respiratory illnesses don’t result in targeted loss of certain senses. It’s a vascular illness as much as respiratory.

hope you feel better soon mate

If it makes you feel better, my symptoms like general lethargy only lasted about a week or so after I recovered tbf. But exercise, yeah I’m still not right. Have had to accept this is it now and just try and build my way up slowly. I’m convinced the second jab knocked me back in that regard mind as I was feeling a bit stronger just before I got that. But would rather be fully dosed up than not!
Like you say, an elite athlete who relies on those fine margins, it’s got to be treated like he had a serious injury

remember seeing a photo of him in late august after he’d recovered and he looked like he’d lost half a stone

My friend is 27 and she had bad covid last year, it's left her with heart problems which she has to have medication for for the rest of her life.

Nahhhh....it comes from those pesky 5G masts. It’s true....my mobile phone has even started coughing

Horrible

It's a horrid thing, a lot of illnesses are. This one though does have such a variety of effects from person to person. It's mad, because it shouldn't act like that, but it does.

People focus too much on the symptoms when in cases such as your friend, and Godfrey, it's more about the lasting effects.

Godfrey can't defend properly and is extremely vulnerable under the high ball. He's not ready to play centre half in this league and only time will tell if he will get there.
He's played 150 first team matches too. We're getting to late bloomer territory if it is going to happen.
