Bent rejects WHU - will AJ be next?

Nice to see arguing without a fight.

I think AJ will have a storming season next year, he just needs a consitent partner. Vaughan might be that man, inexperienced but looks the part.

Yes, its nice not to be picked at by a ..................... no matter

That is what I am suggesting, he won't produce a return anything like that because defences have him sussed. It could be that the trainers try and get him to cut in once in a while with more success, he hasn't so far. Due to matters beyond my control the BT threads are on another site but I think RBJ will endorse that what I've said about being in the vanguard of his critics, and so many said I was wrong then, I would love to be proven wrong this time but I don't think I will be, sell him for £20 mil

Well for what its worth, I dont agree with the notion players are 'found out' as Ive said already in this thread.

Personally imo, its pundit talk and doesnt actually stand for much.

Every time someone comes up against aj, from day one, the opposition would have said watch that pacy forward push him wide and snuff him out.
There'll be good days and bad days for all strikers.
Some days he may be kept in check other days, there wont be a thing defenders can do.
Its just form.

You say he was found out last season:
I say he picked up injuries and was pushed back into the team far to soon at least twice.
And in the prem, you just cant do that without looking a yard slower.
And if he's feeling a yard slower, and not match fit, he wont have the confidence to try and take defences or twist them.

All I'm saying is I think your being far too hasty, and harsh in your appraisal of johnson.
Judge him with a settled strike partnership, and hopefully an injury free run.

I have to say its a bit of an alien mentality to me to judge ANY player on his first season at a new club.

but its your perogative...

we'll see:P

I dont think anyones saying hes a bad player or would pay his train fair to East London, but to put it into perspective,

Viera 12mill to Juve.
Ronaldhino 18 mill to Barca.
Van Nistelroy 15 mill to Madrid.
Ibrihimovic 15 mill to Inter.

Now is Johnson better than any of the above! Hes a good player that no one really want to leave but that a hell of a lot of money and prob more than hes worth.

Its a hypothetical argument for a bid that never existed mate!

tbh, I wasnt questioning whether he's worth 20m or not!

I was suggesting selling our top scorer no-matter-what is a backward step.
There are NO gaurenteed replacements, and if there was, there price would be as inflated as johnsons(harewood is supposedly worth £5m+ now.) so that £20m would not be as attractive as it sounds.

I dont think you can compare, johnsons worth against transfers from other leagues, esp those from a few years ago.
This season could be a whole new ball game as far as transfer fee's go.
Theres going to be a few transfers of merely decent players that will come close to what has been paid for viera, rvn, etc

yes it is a hypothetical argument, thats what forums are for amongst other things surely.(y)

Is Darren Bent?? WHU offered 18mill for him!

Marcus Bent springs to mind!

Hypotheticly speaking of course i gaurentee there will be no tranfers between English clubs that will break the 20 mill mark. regardless of T.V. money i dont think we are seeing inflation in the market just clubs chancing there arm, tryng to set their stall out a shrewd sellers. The summer is a long time and dont forget clubs will need time to strengthen their own ranks by selling their star players im looking at you Presten and WBA.

Im a little lost as to your argument A.J. is a good player but if we can get 20 mill id bite their hand off. Micheal Owen has 9 mill buy out clause. Lets get some perspective here. Its more than a 100% profit. i can think of at least five strikers better than AJ for less money than that. Linekar he aint.

I can understand though weve been starved of a goal scorer for so long, that when we have a good not a great one, people begin to see things that arnet there, lets hope im wrong.

aye there may be better strikers around, michael owen may well be £9m, just one thing.
Youve got to get them here, and pay them what they want, then possibly disrupt wage structures/team spirit etc
We could sell aj and go after everyone of your 'so-called' better strikers, and they may turn us down, then what?
go for a lesser striker, at an inflated price and call for moyes' head?

I dont think anyone who wants rid of aj is seeing the bigger picture here.

I'm not interested in profit on aj, or lescot, cahill etal for that matter.
I want our better stamp of players to stay here, and added to.
[Poor language removed] profit, its only 'potentially' a good thing, depending on what happens afterwards.
If theres a better striker around then sign him as well, we'll have more chance if he thinks he'll have a pacy work-horse alongside him, than looking at being the one carrying the can at a club who's best striker just [Poor language removed] off and left!
if we cant afford them save up and wait till next year, I can wait a little longer for the team to be built.

hypothetically speaking of course.

Dude put down the kleenex down and chillax

A) No one said they wanted rid of A.J. hes a good player! most people putting a fair valuation on him would say about 12 mill, personally i wouldnt sell him for this, but for a 8 million premium, [Poor language removed] yeah. Huntleer will go for half that would he come to everton, i think so. Dont underestimate the heritage and tradition and the name of the club and what it means to players that how we got A.J. anywy. Hypotheticly no one wants to see him go. but he does have a price and for me 20 mill pushes the button. Guess its a personal opinion,

B) Where did selling lescott, Arteta, Yobo, Cahill come in to this? Deep Breath's

C) Please dont underestimte the club and how attractive it is.

This circle is getting a little dizzy!

A) yup personal opinion.

B) eh? I brought them into it as part of a point I was trying to make?
so err there ya go.

C) cheeky sod! I know exactly how the club stands and I am fully aware of the clubs history and heritage. dont patronise a fellow blue, thankyaverymuch!
Dont kid yourself it has an attractive exchange rate against the £, in this day and age.

may I suggest you pick up the kleenex, and take yourself off somewhere for some 'quality time' together?
cheers!

Guess wel agree to disagree on that one, even if true i guess 20 mill would come in handy.

L.O.L. to the fit birds thread!

Don't forget Neiler, even though you suggest buying say nugent or bent or fernandes, what if they flop at goodison?

bent flop you say? surely not.

but who was the last 20 goal a season man we bought?

Don't sell your best players, no matter the money because sometimes you just can't buy that bit of class back.

Yeah i think your right Rob! I actually expect A.J. to push on next season, i was just having a bit of fun because i thought it was kinda funny having, a debate over a never existed bid for a never going to happen situation (20 mill is tempting though)!

Sorry was on the wind up a little (nudges inertia)!

Hey its silly season.

Just to point out that I don't want shut of AJ but I would sell him for £20 mil if that sum landed on the table as was suggested, that said I wouldn't sell Mikel for the same amount because imo he is worth more to the team than AJ.
