One minute he's nowhere near as good as we think, but you want him to stay.
That suggests to me you think he's merely above average, unless you were exagerrating, and your happy for those players to spearhead our team(if I thought aj was genuinely unable to satisfy the demands, I couldnt see the point of keeping him for £10m never mind £20m)
I wouldnt sell him for £30, its completely missing the point.
And your last point, again I disagree entirely.
IMO aj, is every bit as important to this club as arteta.
Arteta is class, no two ways about it!
And towards the tail end of last season he was finding the constistency required.
But I think some fans are just starved of flair, he's been put on a pedestal.
But he still goes missing far too much, and he's still yet to have a really good game against the top sides.
That said I wouldnt take £30m for arteta either.
we should NOT be considering selling ANY of our better players regardless of price.

Dont get me wrong, I can 'understand' why people might want to cash in,but I just disagree with it.
The european and african talent may or may not adapt to the premiership, its a gamble, then there's bedding-in time to consider even if they do 'come good'.
And who's to say if we find a cracker, someones not going to pay stupid money for him too?
Do we take that as well then go and buy another one?
Meanwhile the team is going sideways at best if not backwards.
I dont want to continue to be the feeder/selling club we have for the last 15 years.
Yet it seems to me some who are suggesting selling aj are advocating that exact mentality.

Hold on a second, it seems that you are intent on writing into my posts what isn't there. At no stage have I said he is a bad player, unless you care to translate decent into bad. This thread started with the suggestion that WH would pay £20 mil for him and yes I would sell him. I think we had better agree to disagree because I can't get my mind round your satatement that he is equally important to the team as Arteta, not in my world mate. It seems that your view of AJ is imo inflated as you rate him higher than Henry, Schevncko et al, I honestly think you'd be in a minority on that one pal.
I trust that if Arsenal sell Henry, Lunjberg and Alladiere that makes them a selling club, every player at every club has his price, AJ's is about £20 mil and I would sell.

Would I sell ANY of our KEY players (ie. AJ for 20 mill, Arteta for 30 mill)
NO.
Reason being... I have posted somewhere else about this
"The minute you sell a player that has made it obvious he wants to stay, and the reason for selling that player is to finance other signings, do you not think that sends a message to the whole squad that "If you play well this year and help us succeed then your value will increase and we will sell you to bring in players that can enjoy what you helped us to create" I think that sends out a hugely negative vibe through the squad, the club, the supporters and the future signings that you may want to make."
I appreciate that we could get many more players for the money but they would not be tried and tested and already a part of our machine. This IMO opinion would be far too much of a gamble. Leeds did it if you remember with Ferdinand, Kewell, Smith etc, they fell flat on their faces as they were crap before they could succeed. I would sign cheap players for squad size improvements but they would have to be gradually introduced, and would take too long to make a recognisable improvement. I understand the reasons people are giving for wanting the money, but I honestly believe that the money does not create a better team. A good team creates a better team. And in this modern day times of over inflated prices would we be guaranteed of the players and would be be guaranteed they would actually be an improvement??
