Best pub around Goodison

….i go back to the 60s/70s when Everton Supporters Club was on City Rd. My Mum was the ‘The Committee’ along with Gertie Dunlop (Albert Dunlop’s Mum). From a young age I was a regular, going before and after the match with my Dad and uncles. I had a season ticket on front row of Upper Gwladys (A80).

I was too young to drink, of course, and my own footy was getting a bit of attention but it will always be my favourite Goodison watering hole.

I recall Joe Royle’s Dad was in the three piece band that regularly played on stage (I think he was the drummer). It was there the night we won the league in 1970 that Alan Ball snr let me touch his son’s Championship winners medal.

Great memories of that place, I have a picture somewhere of my family in the club the night we won 4-0 at Anfield in 1964 (I think).
I was at that game ... in the old Paddock (kop end). Totally outplayed them!!! Happy Days - long ago!!!

Love to hear stories like this. Thanks for sharing.

My Dad was a member of the supporters club too and he used to go regularly. Had my 1st semi alcoholic drink in there, bitter shandy ! Used to put cracking Christmas parties on for the kids. Got good memories of being in there with my Dad.

I've never been a pre-match boozer but used to go the Top House with a mate whilst he had a few beers and I had a couple of glasses of coke.

Not been in there for over 10 years now. Don't know if it even still exists.

It is mate.

I discovered this boozer by accident the other week after taking a wrong turn by Walton hall park.

Had no idea it existed tbh.

Will be going there from now on before I meet my mates.

…ah, you remind me of the kids Christmas parties. I’m sure I have a few pics of them from the early ‘60s.

I remember as a kid winning a cash bingo prize and my Dad made sure I spent it on buying the people in our company a drink

In the 80’s I’d park at the Hermitage and have a pre-match pint in there. It was ‘mind your car for a quid’ times, once I got back to my car and the engine was running. I couldn’t work out what was happening as I had the key in my hand. Some scroats had barreled the door lock and ignition, those kids never did ‘mind your car’.
