Big Friedkin Rebuild

Does this give us more wiggle room or is it essentially more of the same?
Good question, I think we definitely will have more room this summer, and I think it's an advantage to us with the new stadium. It doesnt matter if it costs an extra 30m in interest/costs to operate your stadium, it's not figured into the equation. Instead it's purely about revenue, which we will generate more of than all but 6-7 clubs.

Before, 80m in revenue and 30m in costs means we could spend 50m. Now 80m x 85% =68m

For the average club I don't think it changes much for them.

Mills only back training with the 1st team last week after a long term injury.

Coincidental timing but the Echo just posted a story on this.

Didn’t realise Mills had been out for so long; 11 months since his injury whilst out on loan at Oxford in League One.

Mills is 21 now and training with our first team. I really liked the look of him when he first broke through. Hoping he can get back on track now.

Provided Dyche keeps us in the Premier League, the summer of 2025 promises to be a huge rebuilding process for the new owners.

We have the following 10 players out of contract in the summer:

Doucoure £120k
Calvert-Lewin £100k
Keane £80k
Gueye £80k
Holgate £70k
Coleman £55k
Maupay £50k
Young £40k
Begovic £9k
Virginia £8k
TOTAL: £612k / week
(All salaries are approximate and averaged out from various sources across the web; please don’t take as gospel)

We also have 4 players returning to their parent clubs at the end of their loans:

Broja
Harrison
Lindstrøm
Mangala

That’s a huge turnover of 14 players, but also provides some much needed finance for a rebuild.

Based on the above, we will only have the following 12 senior players:

Pickford
Patterson
Mykolenko
Tarkowski
Branthwaite
O’Brien
Iroegbunam
Garner
McNeil
Ndiaye
Beto
Chermiti

Priority signings would then have to be:
• Starting RB
• Starting LB
• Starting CM
• Starting RW
• Starting CF

We’d also need a backup goalkeeper, whilst perhaps looking to promote Armstrong and a couple of youth team players to the first team squad.

Personally, I don’t feel that Patterson, Mykolenko, Beto are good enough, but could serve as backup until January / Summer 2026, otherwise it would leave us too much to do in one summer.

Discussion:
1. How much of the above (if any) do you think we will be able to get done this coming January?
2. Do we keep any of the contract expiry players (maybe on a 1-year extension on reduced terms)?
3. Do we turn any of the loan players into permanent signings?
4. Are there any other starting eleven positions that I’ve missed from the priority signings?
This post has given zat a chubby on

The Friedkin Group need to gut the a huge portion of board and senior roles for me:

Chief Executive Officer
Head of Media & Communications
Finance Director
Head of Marketing
Head of Commercial

They have failed in their roles in their current capacity so we need to create a stable and solid financial base to move this club forward.

Dyche
Has blown good opportunities to secure his job role and he feels like fighting a losing battle. He is an embarrassing result from the sack.

Thelwell
Has been hit and miss for me. If he had money perhaps he would have brought better quality of players but even with money he has blown it in Beto and Maupey in particular. I will contend that the academy has improved under him despite the lack of funds.

Out of contract players
I honestly couldn't care less for the vast majority of them given that they are our highest earners and we have no sell on. Recruitment has been staggeringly woeful for a decade nearly so I don't see why offering last big contracts to players who have been in 3 relegation battles on the spin is a good thing.

It's a big task and ideally we should have been at least 4/5 points better off then we are now with Chelsea and Man City next, we could skip into the bottom 3.

They need to have a plan and funding to adapt that plan so I pray they do and we move forward positively and swiftly.

Of the 'out of contract' players there is only one I would keep and that is Virginia - seems a decent keeper in the making and still young enough to get better. A solid stand in.

And as for the loanies, possibly Mangala - although still need to see a lot more of him to really have an opinion.

I'd consider a 12 month extension for Gana as well. I think he's been very consistent this season and still seems to have the legs. It depends on his demands, obviously, but he's the only other one I would consider renewing.
