I think we've recently seen flashes of what Moyes always said he showed in training. His goal against West Brom wasn't anything marvelous but it showed he has the composure that he seemed to lack last season, same again with his finish today. He also puts a lot more work in than he was putting in prior to this latest injury.

Hopefully he'll carry on improving and live up to the potential he showed early on in his career. We desperately need somebody who can score goals like he does here:

And he's an absolute BEAST

I miss this Everton.

Nunnnnnooooooooooooo!

I'm certain he doesn't get himself injured on purpose. Nolan took a year out of the lad and the way his body has developed recently is most likely the reason he has incurred his recent injuries.

I'm really pleased that he's started to score goals - maybe he is a confidence player and will go on and bang in another 20 this season which would be brilliant.

However, most of his displays last season, and Bolton away is one I will never forget, were diabolical. He doesn't think like a forward or move like a forward. Or at least he didn't.

I just pray that then was then and now is now.

He did for the goal yesterday; that was a great run. Promising signs from him.

This is what i mean about fickleness in everYONE ON THE INTERNET EVER sometimes. For the past 2 years i have never seen see 2 positive posts in a row about vic but seen 200 negative ones. He can't score, he is lazy, has a bad attitude, he crap and can't control a ball etc etc. Then he scores 2 away goals and then everyone starts saying he's always had potential, something has clicked he has good work rate etc etc. It a perfect example of fickleness. Same with moyes was ace best in prem, now he's crap worst in prem. Some of you either need to say yeah i was wrong or stand by what you say and say when he scores he is crap and a goal does not change that.

This is a forum, a football forum. What are you expecting? Hypocrisy rules on all football forums - there is always someone or a group proclaiming to be able to see the truth - when things don't go their way they go all quiet. What are you expecting? opinions are like bumholes, everybody has one. If you can't beat them, join them. I always knew Victor was an amazing player and the future of Everton - even when I said he was rubbish and wanted him flogged to Hull I knew he was amazing. Our number 9 for the next 10 years easy.

I'd like you to prove where I, the original poster have said half of that.

The criticism I've made of him has been about his WELL DOCUMENTED bad attitude. I also know of what actually went on outside that jewellers and things like that not in the public domain (and won't be shared by me either). Where he was extremely immature and a downright disgrace.

However, as noted in the original post - his attitude of late has MUCH improved. He needed to grow up and now he seems to be. Finally. So that he can start realising his potential.

If he sorted his head out he'd be a top player. So hopefully this is happening now.

He wont ever erase the Bolton away game for me.

He stopped running in that game and gave up completely.

He is a tank. He has decent pace considering just how fecking massive he is. The past few games he's finally put said power and pace into action, and I think that's what we've all been waiting for; a bit less hitting the ground and a bit more hitting the net.

VIVA LA VIC.

The lad seems to put a lot of pressure on himself.

Just watching the interview with him after the game (as linked above), and when he gets himself in a bit of a muddle you can see him huffing at himself and rolling his eyes. He also describes himself as "sometimes being a bit stupid".

Interesting view into his mindset - makes me think that those floor-banging tantrums might be down to the lads expectations of himself and frustration when he doesn't do what he thinks/knows he should (rather than at the ref, opposition etc).

All makes me think that if he can get his head sorted, keep himself on the pitch and maybe bang in a few more between now and end of season, that we may end up with a quality striker after all.

I think he's always had the potential to be ace, I just think he needs to build his self-belief a bit before he's gonna get there.
