Is this a serious question?Even with a hefty helping of recency bias, who are the bigger club?
I dislike the analogy but yeah, true. We’re the Ottoman empire of football. Used to be great, and still kinda exists but in a different form.
Forget it - unless another oil state comes knocking, personally can't see it.Gives us hope. There was no smaller club than City to invest in, when you look at the mountain they had to climb to try compete with Utd in the same city. Shows what investment, a plan, and competent people across the club can achieve over time. Treble winners. City. Gives all clubs hope that.
Love this. As if we haven’t spent a shedload of money and just got exponentially crapper.City through cheating.
Says it all really. We’ve been abysmal for over 30yrs but we are still 3rd overall. View attachment 213413
Don`t forget they had their own madman before the Abu Dhabi lot took over.... Again another similarity....Gives us hope. Chelsea have spent unprecedented sums over the last two windows and ended up bottom half. Spending lots of money isn’t “cheating”.
City dwarf us as a club, now, and rightly so. Our decline as a big club started about 35 years ago.
Everton were the Man City of the early to mid 60s World Cup winners like Alan Ball and Ray Wilson signed and some of the best Scots players signed regularly breaking transfer records . Lots of the national press referred to us as the Millionaire ClubYou're taking 150 years of existence vs a cheat code. It's recency bias to suggest different. Have they won more in the last decade than EVERYONE else? Absolutely. Would I be chuffed if Kenwright wasn't the biggest egomaniac on the planet and simply sold to Mansour? Absolutely. Doesn't mean it's "real".
We are the uk. Powerful history, got caught up in it despite times moving on, went all brexit, now living with diminished global presence, and pennilessWe’re the Ottoman empire of football. Used to be great, and still kinda exists but in a different form.
