There is a distinct difference between how the media report on City inside the UK and outside the UK.

Essentially the majority of Europe have an * beside anything City won.

Was listening to a rank and file football radio show in Europe after City's winning the PL title and they were asking what was wrong with the British media Redknapp and the like on Sky asking the question are they best club side of all time and not one mention of their 115 charges and calling the whole win into question - wasn't mentioned once - it is elsewhere.........its quite mad.

Even looking at the BBC website today - its all about some mountain Man City have climbed to reach a sporting submit - im sorry its horse manure.

As i said in other threads their is no sporting integrity, prestige or skill in anything City have won. As ive said elsewhere City winning things is like Lance Armstrong winning the Tour De France. For some reason its only the UK were this isnt acknowledged by the media.

Ultimately the lack integrity, authenticity and true spirit to compete - makes them not a real a football club to be judged with others like Everton.

Congrats to Arsenal and Inter - the true Champions in my eyes.

Our decline probably started even earlier. The 80s was possibly an anomaly, the last hurrah of the old guard when the planets aligned one last time.

All that said, City were nobodies from nowhere half a generation ago. So who knows what's possible?

Reckon we would've taken far more to Istanbul too.... 😉
Cit won the league in 68 the fa cup 69 the league cup & European cup winners cup in 70
To say they where nobodies is maybe a bit strong

…..weird we spend loads and just avoid relegation.

Having big bucks might be an advantage but it takes more than that to build a successful football team. City’s success wasn’t instant despite their spending power.

i remember when we were the Merseyside millionaires, there’s always been haves and have-nots even if the monies spent these days are obscene.

You have to say City are the bigger club currently and we are a laughing stock.

Let’s not pretend we haven’t spent stupid amounts of money and actually regressed though - we could and should have done much better both on and off the field than we have done in recent years, but our inept owner, chairman and BoD have scuppered that.

City have spent a lot but they have spent it well, aligned that to hiring the best off pitch professionals in the game to totally revolutionise the club, and I’m happy for the city fans I know who were there when they fell down the leagues and were almost as low as possible.

They have seen the darkest of days when city were the laughing stock, and remained loyal so I’m happy for them.

Most of the newer generation of city fans I can’t abide however- they are everything that’s wrong with modern football.

Do you think it was really skillful going out and buying Halland and dropping 400k a week on wages to get them over the line - so many examples, bringing in Pep etc - its financially doped out of its eyes balls and according to the authorities domestically and beyond by cheating beyond the limits their competitors are adhering to. They haven't organically built a football club, they've over a fed battery hen and brought it to market - then lied to everyone that it was hand reared and fed organically from a chick.

I love wacthing City play - but its artificial, there is no integrity in what they do - its not real. Its actually a poor return that its taken the since 2008 to get this far and win the CL.

What Arsenal did this year is far more worthy of respect then City - they are the true Champions.

City are Lance Armstrong.

I think they should be made to wear 00s style yellow livestrong bracelets / wrist bands as acknowledgement of their taint.

City all day long, what we have done in the past is gone, we are decades away from city now, they will continue to win silverware were we will just make the numbers up and have the odd win against a top 6 side.

I think some fans do t realise how far we have dropped as a club, this is why when we want a player we have to offer big wages or there not interested in our relegation struggles year on year

Apart from a few other trophies you've just quoted their entire honours list (gleaned in just a few years, under a former Evertonian).

Only twice ever league champs and languishing in the third tier prior their take over. Relative nobodies....

Everton were the Man City of the early to mid 60s World Cup winners like Alan Ball and Ray Wilson signed and some of the best Scots players signed regularly breaking transfer records . Lots of the national press referred to us as the Millionaire Club

But in relative terms we were already as big as any other club in the 60s. Comfortably the best stadium and our average attendance for the whole decade was only beaten by United (by a very small amount).

....not sure if you’re suggesting City players take drugs.

Yes, I do think it’s skilful building a side like theirs & fitting Haaland in.

I’d rather be well-run than rich.

Obviously both is best - but we tried the latter without the former and it was a total disaster.

I just want competence. That alone will bring progress. The Arsenal and Tottenham model, I guess you could call it. They built their profile and status without windfall investment.

No need to continue. I'd argue we're not a laughing stock, but more of a car crash story for the sports media to wheel out on a slow news day and not much else.
