I remember you saying Steve. He is in a very different place now though. He's left Tesco's, is a much older man, and actively looking for start ups to get involved with (as he did with B & M). I don't mean this offensively as I have no idea of your personal capacity, but I think an approach by Farad Moshiri would hold an awful lot more weight. Football is a much bigger business. The club is trying to be ambitious moving forward. He is now a fair bit older. It's likely he could hold arguably the key position on the board (rather than answering into Bill) and Moshiri is a billionaire.

Life is about being able to sell to people. We ought to be able to put a compelling case together to someone like Terry Leahy.

Be honest Steve, if Leahy came as chairman, and Gilvary came as say CEO, do you not think there would be a radical shift in the cultural practices and ethos of the club?

No offence taken...I wrote to him because his name was being mentioned(on Kipper?) and because I was able to introduce myself tenuously because he would have known my wife, and her boss Sir Cary Cooper at UMIST were he studied. He's a fan, for sure, but the intracasies of the football business do tend to put of people who are used to the proper business world. Even our mate BK comes from a business that is random at least, and I've always maintained that BK ran Everton as if it were a West End show!

Kenwright’s so called stability was selling off our best assess to survive. David Moyes did all the hard work for him. Kenwright didn’t have to put his hand in his pocket once and did absolutely nothing to sought the proper investments this club needed when we were crying out for it. His best form of investment was bringing in good for nothing leeches like Robert ‘Planet Hollywood’ Earl just because he was a good friend of Phillip Green and didn’t benefit the club what so ever.

Imagine if we had the right investment around the time we’d just finished 4th or even the season after we’d just reached the FA Cup final and hadn’t had to sell our best assets in Lescott and Arteta the following season? So many clubs have over taken us in stature and commercially since those late 00s days and it’s due to pish poor management and lack of investment over many years.

Moshiri’s investment has come too little too late as those clubs above us that we were once competing amongst are miles ahead of us. We missed our chance to be up there consistently. All stems for Kenwright.

HA HA he has made many more millions out of us lot. Like I said Steve lucky man. I hope it runs out soon.

Last time I saw accounts for Bill Kenwright Productions, about 3 years ago, there was an annual profit of around 14 million. That's just the film side. His 'pension' if he needs one is royalties on Educating Rita, the play which is generally showing somewhere in the world, and Stepping Out.

He's no mug that's for sure.

He's not as daft as he makes himself out to be. Cringed the other week when he gegged in on Bernard's interview with Brazilian TV.

Of course he isn't. He's in his core business he's good at what he does, in fact the notorious Gregg owed Bill a lot. Gregg made his fortune refurbishing old theatres and putting Bills budget versions of West End hits into them. In the entertainment business Bill is known to be tight fisted, but without him lots of performers would not be working.Bill is also very loyal, but heaven help you if you cross him. Unfortunately he tried to run Everton a bit like a show.....looking for investors and selling them the dream. It didn't work all the time and Earl for example lost interest when DK went down, because Bill had sold him the dream of the retail park. Similarly, despite the myths and rumours , Gregg wanted too much for himself out of the Kings Dock and the bank could not see anything in it for Everton. Bills unfortunate choice of the words 'ring fenced' have haunted him for years....what he meant was if the deal was right for Everton, the bank would provide the money. But the deal wasn't right for Everton so the bank pulled out. See also Greggs subsequent 'adventures' at I think, Sheffield Wednesday.

So you are saying we should not have sold off our best assets to survive? We basically should not have bothered surviving.

Also, and this has been said before, every single player who left wanted to leave and we got top money for everyone who went. We constantly gave out new contracts to our better players in an attempt to keep them at the club (they don't play for free) and more often than not any money that was made was put back into the squad (with mixed results to put it mildly).

Investment would have been nice but as there was none forthcoming what do you want to have happened? I don't think you can force people who don't exist to invest in stuff

Its just more fantasy financials.

Absolutely not, most teams depend on a sell to buy policy. I’m saying the lack of investment was a massive hindrance. The lack of everything under his leadership has led to us falling behind many clubs in terms of stature and commercial aspects not just because he hasn’t been able to provide us a decent transfer kitty.

Many clubs during Kenwrights rein at Everton have fallen into money through various investments and take overs, I find it very difficult to believe there was no forthcoming interest in people wanting to invest into our football club.

Why did the players we had still want to leave despite our salary increases? Because we were unable to compete with the clubs above us and challenge consistently for trophies and play in the champions league. Do you believe those players we sold, which waned to leave, wouldn’t have stuck around had we the resources and ambition to compete amongst the top?
