Typically in football the chairman is also the majority shareholder. It’s THAT that gives him the “manager’s boss” role, not the title of Chairman.

Not really, plenty of clubs have a chairman separate from the majority shareholder. Abramovich has never been chairman, neither has Sheikh Mansour, John Henry, Usmanov or Kroenke. They all own over half the club but employ chairmen to run it.

And you reckon the likes of Abramovich doesn’t make the decision on hiring/firing managers? lol

You’re also confusing chairman and chief executive in vast majority of cases. The CEO is typically in charge of “running the club”.

I reckon he has the final say yeah, like Moshiri does, but some people act like Bill has no say whatsoever and is just a puppet that sits in the office all day with an Everton bobble hat on. He is still the chairman and has duties to carry out as chairman.

Also no mate. Chairman of Liverpool is Tom Werner, not John Henry. City’s is Al Mubarak, Arsenal is Chips Keswick, United is Joel Glazer. It’s a completely separate role from owner and CEO.

Oh I don’t doubt he has some duties (chairing meetings, for example), but one of them will not be picking the first team manager.

It’s naive to think he isn’t involved in the process. How do you explain David Moyes looking the most likely candidate to get the job, why would Moshiri pick him?
IF the Moyes stories are true, I assume it’s a case of “who is available that we can get on short notice and would accept a short term deal until our actual target is available in the summer”

That’s probably not a very long list.

We DO have one man at the top.

People just want to find someone to blame who fits an agenda.

We are boss at finding scapegoats.

Is it any wonder people are looking for scapegoats, when there’s nothing coming from the club.

The key to this is information, yet the silence is deafening.

As long as he is chairman his influence will remain to some degree.

He needs to step away for good and stop obsessing over getting his mates into jobs. He's an embarrassment and ruined this club systematically over two decades.

By moving us from perennial bottom of the table strugglers to best of the rest?

Its hardly enough to have a party over but you (and many others to be fair) have a strange concept of ruin.

Nothing has been ruined, we are just a bit average.

That wa# the reasoning behind appointing Sam.

He kept the chair warm for Silva.

And that is what worries me most :(

He oversaw the longest period in the club's history without any silverware. That is the definition of ruin and failure.

We were a proud club seen as one of the top clubs in the country, as recent as 25 years ago.

Now we are an utter irrelevance and accept failure on a weekly basis. The club has been ruined. It's getting worse and worse but no one seems to care.
