e. Less likely to be in high powered jobs (as premier league managers?)

President of the USA?

Also worth pointing out that in America more black people kill black people than anyone else, that is why they are in prison in America. Because they have no civil duty, no sense of community. It's all about gangs.

**** all to do with social discrimination.

I resent this whole line of comments, and it's the kind of [Poor language removed] that is still being said even though it is not ******* true anymore.

Well I'm not going to tip toe around the situation. Black people were oppressed, badly. But they are not anymore. Time to move on.

And quite right to, it is just an observation that you seem restricted to give points of view depending on the colour of your skin. We are all human beings and we should be treated equally regardless. On the disgusting 'N' word, i cannot believe how certain quarters of the black race use it liberally, yet if a white person person should use it, then they are automatically being racist. Surely if a black person uses the 'N' word, they are being predjudice against their own race. Are you allowed to even say black these days? I get confused!

Tensions are brewing in here.

chews popcorn slowly....

The *funny* thing is, you just *know* Ghost is on a wind up. Which woud be funny if it were about a less hurtful subject than racism. There's people on this thread who've had to deal with getting the shitty end of the stick their whole lives and they're still having to justify that what they say about their existence is true. A truth so obvious it shouldn't really need restating and defending. There's something wrong with someone if they get a kick out of making people frustrated like that.

So you are not a race of people?

Jesus christ, your inventing situations here pal. Stop it, please.

A race of people is what it is. Italians, Indians, English, White people, it's not offensive, it's not a sweeping statement - it is what it ******* well is.

I'm out. Can't be arsed with this.

Ghost, "a race of people" is not the offending words. Look back at your message. You've effectively said because some people in the black race use the N term, it negates everyone from that "race" from discussing racism.

I won't insult you, as I surely feel at this moment, but its like saying (as I tried to point out) that the BNP negates you saying anything on racism. Surely you'd never accept that statement, why should I accept your bullshit statement?

Oh, so we've moved away from "oppressed" and now moved onto "social discrimination" Do you know more white people kill each other in Britain and America than they kill Black people? Some 25 odd Black on Black murders that we know of in the UK, but there were about 350 murders in the UK last year.

You are either on a serious wind up, or your so up your own arse. All I say is "walk in my shoes"

Strange, and this all came about because I was lauding a certain fact. Perhaps I should be one of those really grateful Blacks that we've been saved from oppression, therefore I can never have a Black view, perspective etc.

Not gonna happen with this Black man. Never gonna happen.

I'm not asking you to agree with me. I am trying to ask you to understand me. Something you seem totally incapable of doing.

No wonder Everton have so few Black supporters.

Got to defend Ghost here Dave. You have to look at that individual that began the thread. Anyone beginning a thread with regards to the colour of skin, knows full well that controversy will ensue. Ghost is merely having his say to balance out the topic.

I'm not sure how this thread has managed to last as long as it has, but what I will say, is that although I don't condone racism in any way, it certainly isn't one way traffic in this country.
I've been racially abused for being white, whilst working in Manchester in a predominantly black area of Rusholme.

I held a door open for a Rastafarian guy who had a walking stick and was told to ' f off you filthy white piece of ....'.

My first reaction was one of shock, especially as I had both hands full of boxes at the time, yet still offered the guy assistance, and my second reaction was a sudden appetite to stick his walking stick in a place that would have helped him to walk better; i.e, by giving him a third leg.

I let it go, and carried about my business, but it struck me as to just how strong an upsetting experience it is, when being racially abused, and how many black folk must suffer this many times in their lives whilst living in a predominantly white society.
I would even go as far as to say it had the same emotional stress attatched to it as being physically assaulted, and if one occasion sits so vividly in my mind, even 10 years later, then imagine life dealing with it on a daily basis.

Racism is a terrible thing, regardless of who is on the receiving end.

I like his posts usually. He's off the wall and comes out with some funny stuff at times. However, I'd view his efforts in this thread as just stringing out another poster on something that obviously upsets them. There's no genuine dialogue when he can come out with soemthing outrageous like 'there may have been prejudice in the past but it's all over and done with now'. He's not stupid and he knows that not to be the case. He's saying it to get a reaction.

As for BT's original intent, he made it plain it was timed as part of the Black History month celebration. Maybe we see what we look for?

Hi Steevie, this is what I wrote in that first thread. My tag is Blacktoffee (and no the term is not racist)

As its Black history month I thought that I would share something with you which I suspect that most of you know, but may not appreciate.

Mike Trebilcock, when he scored his two goals against Sheffield Wednesday in 1966 became the FIRST Black player to score in an FA Cup final.

We already know that Saha has scored the fastest EVER FA Cup Final goal.

Just thought you'd like to know. (italics added for emphasis)[/QUOTE]

I never used the N word
I never insulted anyone else.
I never sought to descridit Everton or its supporters,
I never personally insulted anyone, never sought to give anyone a guilt trip so that they could apologise for the racism of their dead ancestors.

I did none of those in that first post.

I simply noted that a person of colour was the first person to score in an FA Cup final and that person played for Everton, a club seen by many as a racist club (I didn't even mention that in the first post).

As for your N word comment, read my repost to that. Not everyone in the Black community goes up to everyone else and says "Hi N***, how's it going" In the same way that not every Black record is peppered witht the N word.

Ghost overplays this to his own advantage. He is not an idiot nor ignorant. Nor am I.

And I would add that Black people would say the N word to those whom they know. Not to every Black person, and not necessarily in everyday talk. If you say it to the wrong Black person, you might end up on the business end of a deadly weapon, so its spoken amongst friends.

I therefore, given the history of the word, cannot conceive of a context where white people can use the term in other than derogatory terms. If you can think of a context, please 'fess up, I'd really like to know it.

As I said earlier, if this is the reaction to a simple post, perhaps we shouldn't be surprised that Everton don't have a lot of Black supporters - after all we are the Peoples Club - for ALL the people.

I like all the races. Not just the super hot ones.

There are quite a few Everton fans of ethnic backgrounds in my area, I think you'd be surprised BT.

No I wouldn't, but up to 10 years ago, I was a curio at Everton games. I even had someone at the cup final come up to me to tell me about Trebilcock being Black!!!

My personal goal is to get more people of different backgrounds through the gate, go to the match, and experience why its so great to support Everton.

Nowadays, you can't go to an away match and not feel that passion and love for Everton.

Mr TxB, have you had any issues with racism? I know its a personal question and you clearly dont need to answer it, but maybe it would be good to get another viewpoint. You live in a different area than BT and you are also a different age group.

As I say, just a question.

I'm not disagreeing with you, merely pointing out that there are a number of Black and 'mixed race' Blues in Toxteth and to lesser extent in places like Wavetree and Aigburth. Just pointing out that there are a number of Blues of African, Asian, European and Middle Eastern ancestry out there.

I'm not going to pretend I've been through the same thing that you've been through because I haven't, we come from completely different backgrounds. But I have heard all the stories from the 70s and 80s, I have family members who stopped going the game for similar reasons.

If that's your goal then good luck, I certainly wouldn't be against it.

As I say, just a question.

In life I've been racially abused, yes. I've been called every name under the sun: [Poor language removed], [Poor language removed], Chink, honkey, spick etc. By a variety of different people I might add, from different backgrounds.

At Everton matches and in football in general I can't say I have. But I am light skinned, it'd be alot easier for someone like me to blend in than your average Black/South Asian man.

Not that has ever been my aim, I'm very proud of who I am, I make it very clear that I don't want to be put into any category, I am mixed race. I always liked Bob Marley's view on things:

"I don't have prejudice against meself. My father was a white and my mother was black. Them call me half-caste or whatever. Me don't dip on nobody's side. Me don't dip on the black man's side nor the white man's side. Me dip on God's side, the one who create me and cause me to come from black and white."

But I can't say I've ever experienced the things BT would've experienced, mainly down to our looks, more than anything. And obviously the differences in age.
