Only because no one seemed to call out your usual vile personality.
Oh another insult.

You know, I once valued your input to this forum. Something has happened to you though and all i see you is dropping into threads and insulting various people - a bit like the Bishop (youre not one and the same are you?) it seems the limit if your capability these days.

Despite all the nasty vindictive comments you make to me and others, I still pity you and hope whatever in your life that is driving it is sorted soon.

I don't want any pity from an insane sexist like yourself.

You lazy-bones, get yourself onto the podcast scene, or some of those audiobooks. Seems a bit convenient to focus on 8 hours of women's hour as the crux of the issue. Who do you want to listen to? What topics? Presented by anyone special?
I've found a few. The trouble is for every 1 interesting podcast, there are thousands of utterly dreadful ones. What's more, they're unedited and pass no scrutiny or verification - so what do you believe? How accurate are opinions? So to me the rewards are not worth the search.

There is a decent book written by a UK author for the UK audience that you might want to grab and read. It's not perfect at all, but it at least may get you started on this topic (although you recognizing the privilege of your status above is indeed a start).

Why I'm No Longer Talking (to White People) About Race
I'm sure a white homeless person who was sexually abused as a child is thinking about his privileged status

Chris, you aren't daft by any means, you're a practical thinker, a doer, outside of the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune etc - you can apply yourself and show learning and invention. I have to ask, and I do so with no mirth or mockery, please, in a thread titled 'black history month', what were you thinking was on the cards with a reply such as this, honestly?
I was well aware that it would attract those desperate to show just how superior they are in their social graces. However, a curse I live under is that I should always speak what I perceive to be truth. I'm not saying I'm always right (thats what discussion is for), but from my life, my experiences I speak as I honestly view things, because I want to see a better world.

I like searching for vinyl, the rarer the better, part of the fun is the chase, the payoff is good so long as no ones noticed me punching the air and slapping myself on the back cos suddenly a couple of zeroes end up on the original price. Enough about me. You like science? Brian Cox would be one to follow then any recommendations from him. For instance. Me, I like Frankie Boyle, and enjoyed his tour of Scotland. Can listen to sport (Boxing) some football, etc.

Re belief and opinion, I try to believe half of what I see and none of what I hear...

I don't feel qualified to post in this thread. I'm very much white middle class. I know I have white privilege. I acknowledge that people with white privilege are part of the problem but I don't feel like I'm racist. Is that enough to be part of the solution?

I have a very old school photo from Wirral Grammar School in 1987. There's roughly 1,000 people in the photo. It's one of those massive panoramic ones. There is 1 non-white student and 1 non-white teacher. Black people just didn't exist in my upbringing.

I now work for a ftse100 company that has a very well advertised inclusion and diversity policy yet there are still very few black and ethnic people in my office so as a result I have no black friends. Again I acknowledge my white privilege and that I'm not racist but is that enough to be part of the solution?

Genuine question - Is it enough in 2023 to crack on with life thinking that racism isn't my problem, it's not a part of my world or should I be doing more? If so, how does a middle aged white guy do more?

Educate me GOT
i was laughing at this because i thought you were joking but now i’m not so sure

Now simply 3 insults in a row, simply because you think that in doing so that YOU want to trumpet to the world that YOU are not sexist. You've offered nothing grown up to the discussion.

Show me though- where have I ever suggested that women are inferior or should be treated in a lesser way than men? That's what sexism is. I understand sexism very well and I've never been accused of it by anybody who knows me or understands my thinking. Therefore your insults are unfounded.

This can be self defeating though? Sometimes one persons truth is another's springboard to a parallel or tangent that unravels. Part of being a little older is realising sometimes certain topics will without doubt always culminate in some form of negativity or condemnation. Keeping your powder dry and your nose clean can often be the line of least resistance?

Some topics are fire!

Don't starting bashing the bishop

Chris, all you have to do on this forum is type your name and the word sexist and it pops up many posts over the years that all have you defending yourself from being sexist.

If you have to start multiple sentences with "now I'm not sexist" then it says it all really.

Same as those "I'm not racist but" posts.

I'm trying to avoid ignorance by asking questions. Thanks for the list.

Evidence from the list suggests this sexist and divisive focus on only half of a population has been done before, in 1996 and 2012. There has been no commensurate focus solely on black males.

Also... its clear that this is an American (well technically US as that is only one minor part of two American continents) thing. There are black people in other parts of the world, including Britain and it seems they are being overlooked by the people who focus on this month.

So why will the bbc obsess ... on US cultural issues again (as they do each year)?
And you want to change your name to Loretta...
