“ You guys”??? I would say you are doing what a lot of people on GOT do , one post and you assume everybody is saying the same. The simplest thing to do is to reply to the post you don’t agree with then you can debate with that poster.
Well my post obviously is targeted at the people saying what I was just complaining about, If you didn't say it then it doesn't concern you, I'm too lazy to quote about 5 people.

He already has the hardest skill in the game that you can’t teach. Natural finisher.

Now it’s about whether he can improve the other areas to become a premier league player.

Another loan next season in championship would be another good test
He’s doing really well and seems to be improving, which is great, but I wouldn’t say from what I’ve seen that he’s a natural finisher. A lot of his goals actually seem to go in off a defender or the keeper. He gets into good positions and is clever enough to just welly it towards goal if he can’t conjure up something cute on the spot. That’s good enough for now.

If he continues developing like this and gets the kind of finishing training that DCL has benefitted from, he might well come good for us.

...yep, was going to say similar. Always a good sign when a player was a prolific goalscorer in youth/schoolboy Football as it shows its ‘natural’. Simms has always been like that, DCL hasn’t.

As you, there’s been so much more missing from Simms game. This loan does, though, seem to be working well in developing those weak areas. He always comes alive when the ball is played behind the back four or in the box, but his link play was good in the lead up to his 2nd goal.

He has the physicality, he’ll score goals if he has a chance. Very interested what Everton do in this situation, perhaps Simms has surprised Brands.
There has been a marked improvement in his hold up play and his ability to bring others into the game in the past two seasons , you could see it for the U23s before he went out on loan. What I saw tonight as being different was he dropped back deeper into his own half to pick up the ball and set up attacks, a nice improvement. Every so often someone queries his speed , tonight his 2nd goal showed again he has deceptive pace . He doesn’t always look speedy, but after moving the ball forward he moved forward quickly himself and out paced the defender to the ball, a League 1 defender admittedly.

Use the 65k a week we wasted on Tousun & Josh King each - get him signed on simples .....his track record started of at City etc is excellent if your good enough age does not matter....

Well there's 3 options on the table to consider over the next few months

1. Sell
2. New contract and have him as part of 1st team squad
3. New contract and loan to the championship

I’d prefer an option 4. New contract , train and part of 1st team squad until Christmas then loan to the Championship.
This would give him time to develop a bit further at Finch Farm, then get game time in the Championship. Though 3. may be better if done in August in that it can sometimes take youngsters a while to adjust to a move up a level.

Or option 5, New contract, train with the first team and play him in the first time to show if he can do a better job than the ones here already (and I don't mean 5 or ten minutes at the end of a game).

Actually age group wise Simms was always the better natural finisher than DCL. But he can’t match DCL ‘s workrate, holdup play, and heading ability to name a few area. He’s nowhere near replacing DCL but Simms is improving nicely, a wee bit each season, that’s all you can ask at this stage of him.
I would say DCL hold up play and work rate aren’t anything to write home about.

Simms can improve both these areas
