Why does he have to do this is the question, it immediately implies "crap, get on the defensive"

It's been a problem for us for a few years now to be fair to Thelwell. I assume this is a mixture of things, not having the right contacts/scouting. Not having the right money. Not being an attractive proposition. Right now would any striker want to join us with Dyche? It's almost anti-attack football. Very much neanderthal football. The players have proved that they can play at times, but they have also proved that they have some troubles. I lay those troubles on Dyche and his coaching.
Doucoure plays every week because of the manager and his absolute inability to set a team up any different in 10 years. There are more formations than 451, we even beat Villa away playing 352 last season but then straight in the bin for the next game.
Doucoure and Mykolenko have been embarrassing for weeks and instead of looking for solutions to incorporate more of the squad into different positions they keep getting in the starting team. If we were winning every week and they weren’t making numerous mistakes I could understand. We can’t even score a goal ffs.

Even then I struggle to see an 11 without him. 3-5-2 still needs CM doesn't it?
He shouldn't be anywhere near the number 10/relying on him to do something up there.
We don't have anyone suitable for that position IMO. Maybe NDiaye but understand why they think easier to progress the ball from wide and he does that well.

I wouldn't drop Doucoure as such, more just move him from the 10. I'd like to see us move Ndiaye into the 10 with Lindstrom and Harrison either side (McNeil in for Harrison when he's fit).
Then play Mangala alongside either Doucoure or Gueye.

Oh I agree, we don’t create chances at all but the fact is, all of our strikers are not goalscorers. DCL has had one single good season in his life, on average you get about 5/6 goals a season from him, that is pathetic. Broja doesn’t score goals, he’s young but his record doesn’t look anything special, Thelwell’s desperation to sign him was always bewildering, but this is the same man who was constantly trying to sign Che Adams.
Beto has been dire, and although Chermiti is young, I haven’t seen anything from him that makes me think he will be worth the money we spent.
The fact is, all of our striker options are horrible. We need a complete revamp.

I don't think that Broja is natural 10 but then he's not a natural 9 either. He can carry the ball and might work well with DCL. Ndiaye isn't a left winger either but he's doing ok there. He could do the same on the right IMO.Has Broja ever played as a number 10/supporting striker?

Agree we need to play players in their natural position, so changing 2 for Harrison - I'm not so sure. That's a lot to accommodate Harrison to play left wing.
He's put Broja in for Calvert-Lewin when people said he wouldn't, and put Lindstrom back in.
There are no perfect solutions. We don't have good enough players in most positions but what we do know is that what we've been doing hasn't worked. We have to try something to put a little spark into the attack.
