Boxing

It generates fake statistics for entertainment

I mean, there is more, but I think you get the idea........

At the end of the day it’s just a guide . It has no outcome on the fight score . Like I said it’s a million dollar company that’s been around for years , it serves a purpose

Ie, useless.

I think if people use compubox "stats" in their argument, that says a lot more to me then anything else.

If it’s that useless why is it still in around ? I obviously useless to the boxing industry

Things like compubox are what confuse the fans with it’s stats. The is a lot more to it.

So look at the Joshua vs Usyk fight was a prime example of it. Usyk Lois like he’s landing a lot of punches that were been blocked. Joshua was walking him down more through the fight, so you could say he was the aggressor.

It’s a prime example in boxing. That nobody knows how to score a round if it’s close a close round. Most people just go off what the commentary say or whose landed more punches.

That’s the fans problem though For not understanding how a fight should be scored. a fight is 10 or 12 mini battles to find the winner over the course of the fight . all that matters is winning one round at a time . Compubox is just a rough guide at the end of the fight .

Thats the thing mate, it isn't a rough guide. It provides ZERO context to the fight. It show one tiny aspect. It doesn't take into account rolled shots, blocked shots, shots hidden from view. It is just two guys looking at a laptop screen pushing one of 4 buttons - jab, missed jab, power punch, missed power punch.

There is no fancy AI or super sensors detecting shots. Just two GUYS watching a LAPTOP delivering his opinion like its some kind of gospel truth to the fight.

If anything it is the worst thing for a new fight fans as it completely misleads them.

Sorry, but there are two things that really irk me in my advancing years.......compubox being regarded as a good tool and people who don't know how to use the word 'literally'

That’s sound mate , I don’t take it as seriously as you and @widnesblue . it’s not the end of the world and doesn’t affect my experience of watching fights .

my gripes with boxing come down to tv networks , promoters , sanctioning bodies, far too many belts and moody judging .

It’s not that take it seriously to say but in boxing, fans, judges, refs and commentators all judge a fight different. A round different and people have there opinion influenced by them instead of having their own opinion.

It’s harder to score a round now than ever before. You could literally have someone outboxing a opponent for 2 minutes of a round then the last minute, the other fighter can land two big shots and wins the round, it’s stupid. Or you can have someone backing off, throwing jabs, now only 10% might land, but they look busier and out working their opponent, but the other fighter could be walking down the fight not throwing as many shots but landing then better punches. 9/10 the one throwing the more shots is likely to win the round.
