Boxing

I must have been thinking about a different 1st round KO for Wilder so I went and watched the highlights on YouTube of Octobers bout. Hmmmmm still not convinced about this Finnish dude. And if he fought last week should he really be fighting someone of AJs stature so soon after?
Don’t get me wrong, Helenius isn’t that great or shouldn’t prove a risk but still a good replacement fight on such short notice. Off the top of my head, think only Wilder, Whyte and Gerald Washington have beat him, funnily enough the latter is fighting Chisora on Saturday and was comfortably beating Wilder on points til he got caught.

I haven’t seen the highlights of his fight from the weekend, and don’t know if he took any punishment, but he’ll be in fighting shape and good condition. I kinda like that he’s fought only a week or so ago, gives it more of a competitive edge. Old school mentality. If he’s fought a week or 4 months ago, he shouldn’t pose much of a threat anyways.

100% with you. His training camp will have prepped him for fight and a recovery. The unknown quantity is how much did his fight take it out of him? Is this a reach for superstardom too early that could damage him more than anyone would like? Does he have the tools to frustrate and already over cautious AJ? I'll be watching but hopefully the ref is on the ball to stop this if it gets one sided too quick for Helenius.

To be fair, Helenius is a big puncher, he’ll cause Joshua problems, especially the more defensive Joshua we see nowadays. I think Joshua will take his time and work on getting the rounds in and working on the stuff he’s been learning with Derrick James. It’s a good replacement fight on the short notice and be fun whilst it lasts hopefully.

He consistently puts on the best shows of any British boxing promoter.

Not sure this is a good idea unless we want to go back to Frank Warren hosting two bin men at the local leisure centre.
To be fair, he’s probably the best all round promoter in the sport. He actually tries to do what boxing fans moan about, and when he does it, they still moan. With his stable of fighters, and the buzz it had in Britain in the last 10 years, he actually give life back into boxing on a global stage. Once British boxing was buzzing, the Americans got back involved and derailed the momentum it had over here. It’s mad how people don’t see how he’s good for boxing and rather dislike him more for his up bringing and personality.

By most accounts Hearn treats his fighters far far better than Warren and quite a few other promoters, specifically the lower level fighters who can't afford to be ripped off.

Warren is a repulsive man and anyone who has been to any of shows will tell you he cuts costs at every corner. Him and fury suit each other so well.
Also better action in the audience than there is in the ring at a Warren show too.

The minute Klitschko put him on his arse, so much of the fight and belief went out of Joshua. He’s still got everything it takes to get back to the top but he’s petrified to come forward for fear of getting hit. I thought fighting a bum might be what he needs but apparently not. Making this big tree look a half decent fighter.
