There were Welsh Cleverly fans in the Brookhouse and it didn't even kick off in there, Smithdown aficionados.

Didnt kick off at all in the crowd. I spoke to lots of welsh after it in town and they said they were expecting trouble from us but we've all been spot on and I exlained we expected it from them. Everyone one of them seemed decent people though and we had a great night out with a few of them afterwards.

one of the first threads i made here in GOT over four years ago was

PACQUIAO VS. MAYWEATHER...or something like that....


it's a match i have been waiting for for ages. all boxing fans want it to happend. now it looks like it really might.

back then i hated mayweather. now ive learned "not to hate" him. ive always respected Pacquiao and he's my absolute favourite in todays boxing. i admit, though....Money is the best boxer in the world, he's just something else. one of the best ever actually.

so, let this happend please. last time that it almost happened -it was about that 4 years i already mentioned- mayweather ducked PacMan cause he knew Pac would have probs done him. he was stellar back then. but even today i think he's the only one who can do Money Mayweather.

bring it on... wake boxing up.
it would be the biggest match possible.

not arsed about Manny v Mayweather now. 'money' bottled the fight time and time again. No credibility in it now with Manny's skills on the wane.

Mayweather may very well be a great boxer but he'll never be a legend, imo, for continually ducking this fight.

every boxer has done it, even ali
mayweather will be among the legends for sure.
we rarely disagree cause we have same mar but i knew this would happend at somepoint of our lives.

he wouldnt do it under manny's terms you fight at this weight ect, like he had done to other fighters, always to his advantage

Whilst he might be of limited ability, there aren't many boxers who are not, the first fight with Cleverly came about because Bellew was the natural challenger to the title holder.

Again, with Stevenson, Bellew deservedly earned a mandatory shot at the title, despite a couple of dodgy performances, through fighting in the ring, nothing to do with anything away from the ring, thats why I thought his behaviour in Canada was stupid and unnecessary. He could have come across better when on the world stage.

The fight tomorrow was always going to happen, but again, the only thing that would have stopped it was either of them being beaten early doors at the new weight, so it was his fighting in the ring that got this second fight in place. Fair enough he is doing more than Cleverly to hype it but I just wish he'd tone it down a bit, he's not coming across great at times and its become quite boring listening to him now this last week ahead of the fight.

I hope he does the business tomorrow night though, hard for the loser to come back from defeat ,more so Bellew given his age.

Lots of fighters don't get the fights they should or deserve as they get swerved for more lucrative fights. Bellew still has to be in a position from ranking perspective to get these fights, he then becomes an attractive deal as he sells tickets. That's what I mean by box office. He will now get a World Title shot, his last few performances in the ring mean that his boxing performances will sell fewer tickets than his press conference antics.

The fight was always going to happen. Both of whom are still 2 of the best however both are now well well past their primes so it won't really prove much. Mayweather didn't take the fight because his main draw is that he's undefeated and can rack up 30-50M a fight toying with schrubs and would have had trouble making 1/2 that with a L on his record. Plus the 100M he would have against Manny 3-4 years ago will now be around 150M now. Boxing fans are so starved for a "superfight" that we'll pretty much have no problem shelling out for Geezers at Ceasear's even though we all know we are getting what will be a much inferior product.
