Boxing

Ot may have came across different on tv but everyone there seemed to think it was a good fight, I enjoyed it until I heard the words 'split decision', still pissed off over that now.

[Poor language removed] a rematch its pointless other than to line a few pockets.

I was on the floor tonight behind the sky guys, had a great laugh with jonny nelson who took it in good fun when I wolf whistled jim and told him he looked sexy but dont ley Huck see it when he was getting make up put on him.

Paul Smith also asked the staff to take all his mic gear off so he could walk around and get his pic took with my gf. Froch on the other hand seemed to be a miserable [Poor language removed]

As for the atmosphere it was nowhere near as good as it should of been. I put it down to Matchrooms fight pass or whatever its called. Was more of a neutral venue coz of that.

Didnt kick off at all in the crowd. I spoke to lots of welsh after it in town and they said they were expecting trouble from us but we've all been spot on and I exlained we expected it from them. Everyone one of them seemed decent people though and we had a great night out with a few of them afterwards.

Re-watch the fight, bellew won rounds 9-12, the other rounds were pick-em rounds with very few punches landing from either. I personally had bellew winning by 2-3 rounds but it wasnt the worst judges card you will ever see.

I thought the first 7 could have gone either way. Cleverly was accurate and bellew aggresive. After that it was clear IMO. There used to be a rule the fighter coming forward and being aggresive was favoured. Not sure if that's still the case?

Sometimes it takes a lot to change a judges mind if you start slow, it's human nature to pick a side and you base that on first impressions. Could take two strong rounds to get them to start changing shared rounds into wins.

Fair point that. I thought it was a decent fight myself. Not technically brilliant, but well worth watching.

B-Hop made a career (and a half) out of starting and finishing strongly. Look tidy in the first two and you've set the judges minds in place. Finish the last two strongly and you're likely to win. The middle eight of his fights are often ugly dirges.

Never noticed that before. Now you mention it.....

I think it's true of quite a few fighters, mostly to preserve energy for a big finish. Hopkins is an extreme case, imo, as he's had to compensate over time. His aim in the middle rounds seems to be not to lose, rather than attempt to win, and expend minimal effort. It's clever, if ultimately dull for a spectator.

I stopped watching him a long time ago as he bores me to death. I admire a boxer who hits without getting hit but he's too cautious to be bearable.
