Brazil v Holland

It was Barca-Inter redux. The match was a disgrace. It's funny how the Dutch couldn't win the WC playing total football so they resort to this crap. After watching the C-League and now this its pretty apparent that it was Leeds and not the Dutch/Ajax teams of the 70s that played football that was way ahead of their time.

COME ON URUGRAY!!!!!!!

Maybe it's just me and I'm looking through orange tinted glasses here, but to compare Brazil vs Holland with the Barca vs Inter encounter is a bit too much in my eyes. Think the Dutch played very well the 2nd half and we could easily have scored 2 or 3 more. Agree on the total football bit though. A new era has arrived and the Dutch finally realise there's more to football than just play beautiful. In the end it's all about results and we finally have a crop of players and a coach that does understand that concept. Welcome to the new realism!(y)

Well in DT, chuffed for you mate.

Though that was an awfull game oof football two of the best footballing nations in the world and cynical fouling won the day - bith teams were guilty of it. Fair play to Robben he was a big factor brave in wanting the ball, Brazil could do nothing but foul him and eventually had to take Bastios of before he was sent of and Melo eventually got sent of. How Van Bommel wasnt sent of never mind booked is beyond me. The big difference was Dutchland held their temprement, showed great desire - great to see a Dutch team finaly together.

As for Brazil they lost it compleatly - they didnt have the temprement to get byond cynical fouling - in someway they equated that with desire - the difference being the Dutch did it better. But the ref was poor and it ruined the game as a footballing spectacle.

Chuffed for our Dutch friends hope they go all the way.

On an Everton related note Jonny H didnt have a good game.
Thanks Neiler.(y)

On van Bommel, he's superb though, isn't he? Best player for Holland during this tournament. A player you love when he's in your team, but absolutely hate when he's on the opposite side, I guess. Good thing is, that I'm always on his side. Him and Cahill are my footballing heroes.(y)

Think it's been a belting world cup. Very memorable on and off the field.

And what Dutch toffee up to? Probably smashed off his tits smoking a vuvuzala and suppin grolsh by the litre

Yeah, can safely admit I had very tough night. Just replace the Grolsh by Brand's/Jupiler and you got the right impression of me. Do have a stinking hangover now, though.:drunk:

Can only get worse, seeing this was just the quarter finals.:cheers:

Well done the Dutchies.

I've had a bit of a feeling from the start that they may do something here. They have got a few players that you love to hate - Robben, Van Persie, Kuyt, Van B (Never forgive him for saying Everton weren't a big enough club for him), in fact nearly all the team - even Johnny H if he signs for Citeh.

The team spirit seems a bit better this time round, and I fancy a repeat of 78 - Dutchies v Argies final.

Get Shandy on!

Come on you Nedelanders!

To be fair to him Lao. He was availlable on a free transfer from PSV at the time and attracting interset from a long list of international top teams (Barca, Inter, Milan, Real, Bayern and Arsenal to name a few) and Everton was just starting to pull themselves away from yearly relegation battles. So, can't really blame him for turning us down. Afterall even a so called boyhood blue didn't think Everton was big enough for him a few years ago.

Would have loved it, if that hadn't been the case and he would've signed for us back then. Would've made me the happiest Toffee in the world.

You have to ask Johnny that question.

Speaking of John, did anyone see that SkySports thing with Carragher this morning where he was bleating on about England and their talent and where he used an example that John Terry shouldn't be sat at home when Heitinga is still in it?

Suppose he missed the bit where he was utter dogshit in every game he played, the stroke faced weapon.

If Terry had a half decent partner in defence, he probably would have. Think about that you RS has been, or should I say never was?

It's a disgrace and insult to the previous generation of Dutch masters(who grace the game with class and quality to build up a good reputation of total football)if you guys really choose to go on such path and consider it your new football concept. Dutch did not win the world cup due to bad luck on many occasions, nothing to do with having a bad idea to play beautiful football. If you think playing Greece style football is the best way to go, then you're taking a major step backwards in terms of development. Which is exactly what happen to Italy mate. Short term gain for long term suffering.
