Really? In what way?

Allowed Anya in behind a couple of times because he didn't look over his shoulder, offered nothing going forward and looked slow on a few occasions.

I rate him and think he'll be a very good centre back, but it wasn't his best performance today. He did make some great covering tackles, though.

Really I thought he covered very well for Jags and Stones and didn't give the rightsided winger a lookin. Also thought considering he's not a natural leftback he did well pushing forward and looked very comfortable with the ball.

Funny how two people can see the same player so differently.

Big shout out to the Park End bellend in the backwards baseball cap and goatee who kept giving him stick for taking it on his 'weaker' left foot

Yes Doug like Tim H !- not troubled today much other than our defence letting them in, Galloway looks like a centre back to me , but he can slot in at left back, might have too the news on Baines looks bad!

I personally think he's struggled in all the matches he's played. But, he's young he's learning, and he's only going to improve.

He struggled due to having a pacey winger against him, and being played out of position, but there are lots of promising things from the lad.

Agree with the general consensus, I thought he was good today and didn't look out of place at this level. He looks very composed on the ball however it's clear that he isn't a natural fullback however I'm comparing his attacking ability to Baines which is probably unfair. I love the way he's agressive in challenges too where he showed great desire to win the ball back after he got tackled. Lucky not to be injured by their grock upfront too.

The problem with what we have is that him being unnatural at LB means our left winger will have no player to link up with.

Oviedo for me isn't the answer he hasn't looked the same player in the granted limited time post leg break, hope he hasn't lost that mobility/yard of pace.

If he is not played we won't find out, will we?

The lad is essentially a CB so why play him at LB when we have an LB ready to play but gets selected for the bench, puzzling really.
this seemed to be about giving him big match experience and could have backfired on the lad. took it in his stride though and think he will be in the centre for us in a couple of years. just would have rather we took the opposition more seriously and played an experienced lb. also makes me wonder if we are bringing in a cb to cover if martinez this keen to get him time on the pitch

We needed to play an out and out winger ahead of him for the whole game. To play him behind Cleverley made that whole left hand side redundant going forward which at home to Watford is not great. The lad doesn't look out of place defensively and makes sense now that he was played at left back for the u-21's last season so he can get used to that position.

Well methinks that as this was the first game of the season and the importance of nailing a win and 3 points is this the right time to experiment and do such a thing.

Got to be honest, thought he was poor today, bordering on weakest player in the side. That's not to say I don't think he'll be a good player, by the way; he's clearly got something about him. Just not so sure how good he is at LB.
