that just tells something about how poor the rest have been. Not saying Galloway hasnt done well, but he hasnt done THAT well.

It's probably less him being literally the best player that month, and more how well he's done all things considered. It's certainly more impressive than the other players, even if he wasn't actually the best player, if that makes sense.

it makes sense, but then the award is just dealt out on false premises.

We won 3 out of 4 games in September and remained unbeaten for the whole month with +4 goal difference, and even walloped the champions ffs.

What would you have considered "good" if that's poor?

Was terrible against Utd, but you expect games like that from a young lad playing out of position, as long as he learns from it its fine

why do you argue on how many games we have won? This is about a price to a player. It's not like he is the reason alone for us winning those games ( even though he has been a contributing factor). There have been lots of other players on the field too.

Who was better than Galloway that month mate?

You said it's a reflection on how poor others have played, well if they've been so poor how come we came through that period unbeaten after winning 75% of the games? What would you consider good performances?

He has been brilliant and playing out of position.

There's no doubt he's been good, although you have to admit part of the award is the context: the exact same performances from, say, a 30 year-old natural left-back probably wouldn't have earned the award. Still, there's nothing wrong with context.

I do think, more generally, that we don't tend to see individuals perform outstandingly well under Martinez. I don't mean that as an insult, but even our best performers this season (Barkley, Stones, Jagielka, Lukaku intermittently) have been good rather than great. It seems like one of the key aspects of Martinez's approach is collective unity over individual quality, even when we have individuals capable of excellence. Obviously that has to do with the duties he assigns to the players - Lukaku dropping deep/working the channels etc. - but it's interesting to see that his principles remain consistent even as he tries to slowly evolve our style.

I dunno - I don't watch football anymore.
