Sets a bad precedent though cos every club that gets into financial trouble will expect the same help
Yeah I know, but I'm saying saving Bury FC is a drop in the ocean, and they are not obligated to help every club.

Mad that the NW clubs don't come together to put together a support package to save them. The money these clubs have got, City. UTD, Liverpool in particular and Everton could all save them with a donation.

And then what? They're still run by a guy who is essentially sitting on a pile of debt he bought for nothing in order to extract the repayments into his own pockets. He won't sell, because he'd miss out on the liquidation pay-out from the assets. Essentially, he'll just get what he wants a bit slower. The only solution is for him to be forced to sell the club, somehow.

All falls on the EFL.

Same fellas who allowed Bassini into the game, who nearly killed Watford, let Ken Anderson in, who has killed Bolton, who then allo allowed Dale into Bury.

Fit and proper person tests? Nah. Well let anyone in.

Same people that let Cellino take over Leeds even though he was done for tax evasion.

Support from the football league. I get the arguments saying that every charlatan can run a club down and expect the FA to bail them out - bad precident etc. and I agree.

I also think it's important for clubs to carry on, in respect for history and the local community it should not be possible for them to go extinct.

So how about this for a solution:

Football is awash with money. Some should be reserved for "start again funds"

When a club is wound up, their owners are booted out. Then the club is relegated to the bottom of the pyramid (like Rangers) a relevant deterrant . This would be the end for many pro clubs bit big grounds to maintain but this is where the start again funds kick in to pay debts, maintenance and the wages of non -playing staff while the club rebuilds.

Player wages can come from the community (gate) so that success and growth is related to support and and doesn't give an unfair advantage over clubs already that level.

Charlatans like the owner of the club will then only have a further safety blanket knowing that the club will be financially saved, while they walk away with cash.

It's a deterrent to the club but not the owner, who is happy to take money away from it: look at the Oystons, owner of Bolton, Bury and many other clubs.

I totally agree that it will save the club, which is clearly very important, however the situation cannot allow devious owners to exploit their clubs further.

The owner in these circumstances lose everything to do with the club. If I buy a clock and drop it I lose it. If and owner buys and club and nd mismanages it then they lose it. They're booted out and not allowed into football again. It's the risk they take. Investment and the rewards they bring are supposed to involve risks, right?

1. They have invested in Salford.
2. The guy will sell. Just not to anyone like himself.
They're not obligated to help. I would suggest any investor in football is not seeking to make profit unless competing at Champions League level. Just a shame that clubs like Bury, the centre of the community go to the wall due to a combination of greed and apathy.

I get the “clubs could save them with a donation shout”
But at the same time, PL clubs could probably end homelessness across the country with a donation, where do you draw the line?

The point is that these people have already had the opportunity to fleece the club financially (taking it out during ownership), so they’ve already gained.

If there’s a further safety blanket it may be difficult to distinguish between clubs who’ve genuinely fell on harsh times and those who have been wronged.

“I don’t need to worry about being labelled a crook as I will swing it in the press and EFL will come and save them, all while I get rich”. It’s not unrealistic.

It might sound harsh and I feel sorry for Bury, like I said previously, but we can’t make it easy or facilitate wrongdoing by these individuals.

But it's his asset. You cant just steal peoples property because you dont like them. That's a rather worrying precedent.
