Busting our balls [Vadis odjidja ofoe]

I'm saying he never played in DM.

The distinction I'm making is between being destructive (which is breaking up attacking play by the other side and winning back the ball) and being defensive (which is a positional thing and is about being a body which screens the defense and blocks runners) Fellaini is, imo, the former but not the latter.

Which is why we tend to play a passing midfielder slightly deeper than Fellaini when he's part of a two man midfield and behind a cahill type (Arteta played there as did Rodwell and later Gibson and it's also what Neville and Heitinga are meant to do). Fellaini is the destructive player but not the defensive one and you're suggesting the idea of getting him to be both.

I'm not sure it will work.

suppose i always saw arteta as the creative attacking spark he once was and pretended he wasn't a deep defensive player

Christ, I don't have the time, energy or inclination to try and source footage of Fellaini inadequately protecting our defence, but I can assure you that it is out there.

He shit out against Villa and they scored from it. He lost his runner for West Brom's second goal. And I don't even want to talk about the FA Cup Semi-Final. There are other instances as well, I just don't keep a tally chart of them.

Fellaini might be OK at CM when playing next to Gibson, but even Neville and Osman look OK when they play alongside Gibson.

The proof will be in the pudding anyway, I hope I'm wrong, but lets see how he does at CM in the next few games? I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not hopeful about the prospect.

Ofcourse, and I'd never claim he's the most intelligent defensive midfielder in world football, but I think your doing him a massive disservice and the videos prove that. He's playing in the role we are talking about, not alongside Darron Gibson, against two of the best sides in the country, and to me, he's excelling. Would you not agree with that?

Three games, three incidents, two dead ball situations, only one actual start in the position we are talking about. No breaking down of any of the performances. I don't think I have the energy either, we'll call it a day.

Fellaini and Osman will be fine so long as Osman's in good form. He has a lot of responsibility in that role because he's the one that's going to have to turn and get us moving forwards, something he can do if he's on his game and feeling confident, but can also get him into trouble if he's being roughed up and getting frustrated. I don't see the defensive side of things being a problem, it's more about controlling the game through your positioning and taking charge, that's what we miss from Gibson.

Sounds like we can still appeal this decision anyway, well atleast according to the last paragraph of the statement

An Everton spokesman confirmed the Club will consider all available options before making any further comment.

Ok boys, I was pissed the transfer never went through, but people in here are slitting their wrists

1) Has anybody ever seen Vadis play other than on YouTube? How do we know he would have been any better than Nev/heitinga in midfield? How do we know he would have adjusted to the prem? It's ok saying 'we need cover' which is true, but just because he's another body doesn't mean he would have made things better, people are treating it as tho were going to have to play with 10 men til Gibson gets back

2) Neville played in midfield against united...what happened there? Pretty sure we won and played well

3) We had a great transfer window! If nobody had ever mentioned Vadis then we'd just be cursing our luck that Gibson got injured, not bashing the club, FIFA, club Brugge, David Cameron and anyone else we feel like

4) We've got a versatile squad, Pienaar/osman/Neville/heitinga/felli/Barkley/junior (granted the last 2 probably aren't ready...but how do we know Vadis would have been!?) can all play centre mid

....I'm gutted the move never went through as well and I know we'd all be a lot happier if it had been successful but can we please wait until we at least play a game before we start putting the shotguns to our heads?

Just trying to keep it positive!

Not the end of the world, and I'd see us taking another punt on him in January surely.

We've got cover but I always thought the loan window was open longer for some reason.

It is a disgrace. A question of YES or NO. It took those bunch of lazy **** FIFA 5 days to decide. I do not think it was Everton's fault as FA backed our move.

If our expected appeal is failed again, please tie up the deal asap and Vadis will sign for us on 1st January 2013.

**** off FIFA, corrupt [Poor language removed].

Sounds like we can still appeal this decision anyway, well atleast according to the last paragraph of the statement

Maybe the 5 days suggests we have already appealed it & lost.

It's disappointing because we have a small squad and although many haven't seen him play it gives us hope when we sign highly regarded young players.

In January, half the season is gone and lets face it, money set aside at Everton has a habit of evaporating.

Not blaming the club for this, but I can see why people are disappointed.

Nothing we can do however except hope that someone else steps up in our squad and surprises everyone by breaking into the team, that'll be down to attitude and not any amateur chalkboard line-ups of 4-1-4-1 or 4-2-3-1 or whatever.
