I do sometimes wonder how players view Everton. Yeah we've got history but why would a 22 year old care about how great we were before he was born?

Hopefully this was purely down to playing time and is not a sign of our dwindling status from Euro regulars to mid table nothings.

Think it was more about gametime myself, which matches with the information we have to date, but each to their own.
The only actual info we have - ie from the horses mouth - is we offered more cash than whu to Leeds. There is no conclusive info that it was game time that swung it. I'm sure the club would like us to believe it was game time but it seems they are trying to distance themselves from the whole thing Entirely now which is pretty tough when the Leeds chairman says we were the highest bidders!

At the risk of sounding like one of those Kopite biffs who populate the radio merseyside phone ins: we're Everton Football Club, and this lad runs up and down the line for a club like Leeds with partial success. We have better here already that can fill in for our RB starter while he recovers.

Dodged bullet for me.

Bang all the earmarked money and more on a second striker before the window closes.

Disagree but that is something we'll never know. Overall as I say think we've done well with transfers with the odd exception of course.

Going back to Bryam, what specifically do you think the club/Martinez did wrong or should have done differently to get the deal over the line?

Martinez would have told him Coleman is our right back at the moment but he would be cover and also have the chance to displace him. Where at weat ham, who do they have?

Shame as I thought he would be a decent signing. But no signing should be guaranteed a start so if he wasn't up to the fight of having to knuckle down, work hard and learn from one of the best right backs in the league then more fool him.

Short term gain getting first team togger at West Ham
Long term pain as he's stuck at West Ham

Exactly right, history is great but it comes down to the present and money for players these days.

Oviedo doesn't though. Question is whether he can stay fit...

He's looking good for Sunday though by all accounts, while apparently Coleman and McCarthy also have a chance.

Please don't bring J Mac back too early. I know we'll want to give him minutes Sunday to get him ready for the City game, but I'd rather he started the City game and gave us 70 minutes, that game could go into extra time anyway, and we have a fresh Besic at that point.

Switch on the Internet after a hard days work and see Byram has rejected is for West Ham, that's 3 players that have rejected us for them now. That's rather embarrassing, dress it up whatever way you like and say he didn't want to be an understudy but still embarrassing them getting one over us AGAIN.

I see it that there are many factors drawing him to West Ham, as opposed to putting him off joining us.

This for sure. Second striker, in my opinion, is our #1 priority. I have nightmares thinking about even one game off for Rom let alone a few.
