Yeah, if we are innovative and just tell a pair that 'you are the first choice we want to invest in' maybe tell them privately and also tell Keane, Holgate and Mina that they have to work on x,y,z and compete to get back in, then it is healthy competition. At the moment it's like a game of musical chairs or random selection to see who's in the starting XI. That Nkonkou or Small are not here to replace Digne is terrible but that's over now, we may still need nkonkou to compete with Mykolenko next season, but it would be nice if a first choice back 4 were told, 'you are the future' and they work towards it.

For me if Godfrey is to have a future at the top level as a starter it would need to be in a back 3

This all day long. I’ve felt since he arrived he’s suffered from being moved around and more importantly playing alongside horrific centre halves

He really doesn't have the touch and control for midfield position.
