CARABAO CUP DATES

They have big enough squads to compete fairly. Getting the bye is more than enough imo
Never ending funneling of advantage to more established clubs
Wasn’t the intention of the football league but is certainly the result.

UEFA on the other hand don’t even try to hide it anymore, the new set up of the CL and Europa is a filtering system to make life easier for the better sides.

1 big league with 8 random games, 4 home and 4 away, from each of the 4 pots. Top 24 teams out of 36 qualify - so no more groups of death, you would stand a good chance of qualifying if you lost 5 of your 8 games but won the other 3.

Then if you finish in the top 8 in the league stage you avoid the first KO round, and in the second knockout round you are seeded and play your second leg at home.

it’s getting silly

The whole competition needs rethinking. We’ve got regionalised rounds early doors to cut down on traffic. The Euro qualifying sides don’t have to play the first KO round and now they get seeded for the first round they are in. The semis remain 2 legged.

It’s a mess. The best thing would be to make it so Euro qualifying sides don’t play in the league cup at all. This would then become a great chance of a trophy for the rest of the league and give the Euro sides more rest time which in turn gives them a greater chance in euro comps.

Spread the comp out a bit more so the final is in April and play the semis at Wembley in March - giving more fans a great day out.

Instead we have Man City winning 6 of the last 11, with Liverpool and United on 2 wins and Chelsea winning the other. It’s just boring
Couldn’t agree more , we actually discussed
This last night . Feels like it’d be a great boost for everyone else , liven up the comp and give teams a chance but I can’t see them agreeing because they won’t exclude the cash cows

When the super league was touted Uefa were saying 'but but we've changed the CL to suit you'
The co efficient qualification is a massive joke

It’s only going one way though, my guess is the Prem will have 6 CL spots within 10 years and half the league will play in Europe every season.

Don’t forget we have a 32 team club World Cup coming up as well

The thing that has made the sky 6 so strong compared to the rest of the PL is the fact that they are almost guaranteed European football every season while the rest scrap it out for one place. They can have bigger stronger squads knowing they have the extra games to keep more players happy. Every other team gets European football, tries to add players that summer window, cant cope with the extra games and domestic form suffers meaning they miss out next season, and then some other club gets to do the same. More teams playing in Europe may mean more will be able to have squads with a bit more depth and provide more competition for the 6.

but the disparity between the money for the champs farce clubs v the europa is so big that the europa is more of a hindrance and you have to have a bigger squad but dont have the extra cash to finance it sustainably

Did anyone watch the weird pre-draw thing on Sky before? Made my head sting. I have no idea what they were doing, but it had something to do with some teams being home or away.

6 teams in Europe all getting drawn to see if they play home or away whwn the proper draw takes place later.

Plus they can't face each other in the 3rd round.

Absolute farce

Basically protecting those clubs and themselves so they don’t get Liverpool reserves playing City reserves early on instead of getting Liverpool v City in the final, stinks.

I assume the “pre-draw” for the 6 Euro teams to determine if they’re at home or away has been done then? Can’t find any info on it. Who’s home / away out of that lot? Ta.

EDIT: so apparently they didn’t actually draw any teams out, but we do now know that 4 of the 6 are at home, 2 are away??
