CARABAO CUP DATES

They'll get their wish soon enough.

Games abroad, Games catered for foreign audiences, local fans fed up.

Non-League thrives, whilst long established professional clubs are toyed with simply for not being part of the rich "Clique".

Be lucky if one of the non established 6 get to a final. Can already see it now. Newcastle away to City.

I assume the “pre-draw” for the 6 Euro teams to determine if they’re at home or away has been done then? Can’t find any info on it. Who’s home / away out of that lot? Ta.

They haven't drawn the team out yet but they did Home or Away for them and first 4 was Home Ties and 2 Away. So 4 out of them 6 are at Home when the proper draw is done later

Sorry if I'm not understanding this but are the 6 Prem teams in a different bag to the others?

Draw Conditions

The Round Three draw consists of 32 Clubs – 25 winners from Round Two with the seven Premier League Clubs in UEFA competitions also entering in this round.

The UEFA Conference League, a competition Chelsea FC could be participating in, is due to begin in October and therefore has no impact on the Carabao Cup Round Three draw.

For the main draw, two separate bowls will be utilised:

  • Bowl 1 - consisting of the six UCL and UEL Clubs
  • Bowl 2 - consisting of the remaining 26 Clubs
A pre-draw will take place prior to Nottingham Forest’s Round Two fixture against Newcastle United on Wednesday 28 August, live on Sky Sports, to determine the Home/Away positioning of the six Clubs in Bowl 1 for the first six ties of the main draw.

The main draw will be conducted following the conclusion of the game at the City Ground – also live on Sky Sports. The first six ties will be drawn by alternating between one Club from Bowl 1 and one Club from Bowl 2, with the Home/Away positioning of the Club from Bowl 1 already pre-determined in the earlier draw.

Once the six Clubs from Bowl 1 have been drawn, the remaining ten ties will be drawn from Bowl 2 only. From this round of the competition, the draw is no longer split into northern and southern sections.

What a complete waste of time this competition is

I absolutely detest football in this country now
It’s bad enough that we couldn’t win anything with a level playing field they’ve introduced extra subs , VAR if a linesman misses an offside or a iffy foul in their favour , PSR /FFP to protect themselves , new champions league coefficients and now seeding in this .

Won’t be long til we all get compete to play against them in the quarter finals of cups , just reduce their chances of losing . The game is ruined

They would be better off putting these 6 teams straight into the quarterfinals with the 2 finalists of the rest of of us in this farcical competition?

Not sure why there is so much noise about this.

It is fairly easy. EFL desperately need the cash cow teams in the EFL cup. Teams that would like the cup to go away.

EFL sell their tv rights as a package. Championship, League One, League Two and EFL cup. Without EFL cup with all the PL teams, the tv rights outside of UK is pretty much worthless. EFL as we know it, won't exist without the EFL cup.

There are six teams that gets a minor advantage in a single match. A match they regardless will play a second string line-up. What is it, 15% chance that they will draw a fellow team that has qualified for Europe? Meaning each team will get an "easier draw" once every six year? Is that what people are mad about?

The alternative seems to be no more EFL cup and a lot less money distributed throughout the pyramid.

EDIT: so apparently they didn’t actually draw any teams out, but we do now know that 4 of the 6 are at home, 2 are away??
Yes, there's four teams who will get home fixtures, and two will be away. They're already gifted a bye from the 2nd round, and now guaranteed an easier fixture.

Pathetic!

Is there appetite for the EFL cup outside of UK? Other than the final, do fans of these big clubs tune in at 3am to watch Man Utd - Rochdale? Surely not enough to be a cash cow?

The motion is also set that where does the tolerance stop? It was fine to accept a Club World Cup, expanded Champions League, but a League Cup tie is too far? It's the price of success as far as I'm concerned. That's why there's noise
