Carlo Ancelotti

I’m worried about this appointment guys, he’s won it all and clearly was world class but why would he now only be coming to us and not going to a big club if he still had it?
Fingers crossed I’m wrong and he can get us up there with the RS with money to spend
In the absence of the required functionality, please consider yourself fingered Bucko.

They say that Ancelotti is tactically flexible and can get a little bit extra out of his teams. If he does that here, he’ll have made a good start. DF has shown if you set up with a game plan this team can get results.

Yeah, it could’ve been Ancelotti that skyrocketed PSG back into the elite...... or it could have been the Qatar government who took over PSG a couple of months prior and gave him an unlimited budget.

Do you accept that Ancelotti has never had to conduct a comprehensive re-build during his career, the likes of which would be necessary to get this club into the top 4 in the next 2-3 years, and that he typically delivers success with a level of players he doesn’t have access to here?

Sure, if FM going to start playing Footy Manager on cheat mode and throwing money at it, you’d expect we’ll get those calibre of players and can accelerate our growth which is exciting - but surely it’s reasonable to be at least mildly concerned about Ancelotti’s inexperience delivering on a project like that and the financial and long term implications of that strategy for the club (i.e we aren’t City or PSG)?

The PSG of 2010/11 is similar to where we find our club today. In terms of squad quality and funds what would be available to Ancelotti strolling in. It would be naive to suggest that Ancelotti won't spend and won't have the green light next summer to identify and sign the players he wants.

I've already given you an example of that Ancelotti has completed a re-build of a club.... PSG. He has also proven to get the best out of slightly above average players, and playing his way.

To be concerned over Carlo Ancelotti taking over here is a little strange if you ask me. The best manager available in world football currently and Evertonians have the gall to be concerned over his appointment. Utterly strange.

I've heard and seen nothing but good comments from his previous players from his man managing, tactics etc.

No it wasn't. Had a couple of horrendous years under him i will admit but it wasn't dire on the whole. It was absolutely dire before him, truly abysmal, but not whilst he was here when you look upon the years on a whole.

I love how some Evertonians forget what it was like being a blue for long periods in the 90's. That was dire mate.
Wimbledon and ofcource Coventry... great days in Evertons history... stayed up by Chelsea and Goal line Tech not being invented and Wimbledon having a bet on themselves to lose

It amazes me the amount the negativity associated with the appointment of one of the most decorated managers in world football, JUST because he's linked with Everton. If Arsenal appointed him, and their squad of players is no better, then everybody would be talking about what an amazing appointment it would be. Remember Ferguson wanted Ancelotti at Man Utd as number 1 choice NOT David Moyes

I don’t think it’s negativity mate. I think it’s mostly surprise, but also questions. Even the most ardent blue would admit in all the excitement it’s a bit bizarre! Take a look at the comments at the start of this very thread.

Ancelotti taking over as our manager is totally different to taking over at Arsenal or United would make sense as it suits his experience of taking over established clubs with European Football and top international footballers across the park.

He won’t have that here, hence the questions and intrigue from all corners. It’s something even he has never done before.

Moyes’ football has been dire everywhere though mate. At Man Utd he inherited the champions and had the likes of Van Persie and still played an awful style of football.

He’s a dinosaur and his name doesn’t need to be synonymous with Everton anymore.
Nah I disagree with that mate.

It's a very distinct style, and not one I particularly enjoy, but it does create some good moments. It's just whether you like watching build up or attacks starting with the second ball in the final third. Once we managed to hold it in the final third, either via Fellaini or Cahill, we could definitely play.

Unfortunately though it's a system based on not having the ball. Proved by how often sides who can to Goodison and parked the bus found a way to win.

Ancelotti can play 442 which I think suits us at the moment with the players we have but if we are going to be in and around that top 6 either this season or next, we need to be able to play possession based and counter-attacking football.

If Ancelotti signs, it’s easily the biggest signing of the club’s history. It is in the 30 years I’ve followed Everton.

Reading Ancelottis bio atm, and he clearly states that his job is to coach the team according to the owners wishes.(he is the employer after all)

Also highlights that DoF role is absolutely essential, as managers should focus on managing teams, not meddling with agents and negotiations.

Seems extremely flexible and cooperative
(his own portrayal) and has a very business-like mindset, accepting his role in the hierarchy. Seems like a father-figure who gets the best out of each individual. And ALWAYS protects his players.

Also mentions that his leadership-style often is criticised as weak in tough times, but naturally disagrees with this and highlights people("talent") over strategy. Seems a natural motivator to me, who can handle big egos and build squad harmony under multiple circumstances. So no worries about Oumar and Cuco the.

Leaves me excited and sceptical at the same time...

(bio is called Quiet Leadership, good read so far)
He apparently is at all Egotistical either, he only cares about his players winning and taking the plaudits

Neither United nor Arsenal have top international footballers across the park.

Aubemayang / Rashford aside I'd say theyre pretty weak in most areas
