Carlo Ancelotti

It really is simple. Koeman's had a reputation for poor man management going back to his Valencia days. There were plenty on here, including me, who warned about it at the time we were appointing him. Meanwhile Ancelotti has had a reputation for brilliant man management for decades.
Ancelotti has a reputation for being a hands-off manager who lets players do what they want. He expects them to motivate themselves. Whether that model will work with out mob remains to be seen. It does work when you have squads full of motivated winners.

But it seems he was getting SO laidback it was becoming a hindrance, if Bayern Munich is any guide.

I totally agree. There’s context, as with everything.

But people are asking why there would be any concerns. We’re expecting a short term, title-winning, European Cup winning manager (one of the very best) to come in and bring some long term stability to a club that isn’t going to challenge for titles or european cups. It’s not saying he’s a bad manager or a bad appointment, just that it’s flawed logic.

You don't know he's going to be short-term with us. No, we're not going to be challenging for titles and European Cups in the near future, but that's ultimately where we want to be. To get there, or at least make significant progress towards that goal, we need to hire a quality manager. Ultimately, he's a great coach and he will buy the players he needs to improve the team. He will also be given more time to build that team than he's been afforded at his clubs in recent years. Yes, it may all go pear-shaped, but appointing Ancelotti when you compare him to the current alternatives is a no brainer.

That’s how most statistical analysis works mate, if you have an obvious outlier or anomaly, you remove it.

He’s averaged 19 months at 8 of his 9 clubs.

If you included Milan in that, it would distort the picture to an average of over 31 months - but he factually hasn’t stayed anywhere other than Milan for that length of time, you see?

It creates an inaccurate perception of how long Ancelotti stays at clubs - which is ultimately what I was trying to point out.

You can argue it, but if someone casually asked you how long Ancelotti stayed at clubs, you’d answer 19 months, and you’d be right.
i would say till he wins trophies .
Hope he does the same here

Dont think thats a problem with Dunc as assistant manager

Carlo to set up the team, tactics, system with Dunc the motivator.

Brands is the interesting one - is he just a glorified scout in this now?

Pay the fine.. psg and city got fines for breaking the rules, no way they can ban any team now the precedent has been set, if they try to ban a team now they'd be hammered in court.

And have a guess who the first team to ever get banned for breaching the FFP rules would be? Yeah, would be safe not to give them chance to do it to us.

This is quite an interesting piece from when it all looked so good at Napoli:

"Ancelotti inherited a Napoli team in the summer of 2018 that was coming off a record-setting Serie A campaign, in which it collected 91 points but still finished as runner-up to Juventus. In his first season he guided them to a further second-place finish as well as the quarter-finals of the Europa League and Coppa Italia.

"This season he expects more tangible success. “Second place is not enough any more,” he said in July. “We have to win something.”

"A domestic title remains Napoli’s prime objective. They have won Serie A only twice in their history, both times inspired by Diego Maradona. Yet the experience of two seasons ago has this group believing that Juventus can be usurped, especially in a season when the reigning champions are adapting to life under a new manager – Maurizio Sarri – with whom Napoli are intimately familiar.

"A Champions League run should also be a realistic goal for a team that beat Liverpool and drew twice with Paris Saint-Germain in the group stage last season, finishing behind the eventual champions only by virtue of goals scored. On paper Napoli look stronger than they were at this time last year. Ancelotti rated their summer transfer activity as a perfect 10/10."

It astounds me how anyone can have reservations about this appointment.

There's simply no comparison to Koeman to be made. One had twelve months at Saints, the other has won trophies everywhere he's been.

Ask yourself this..

How would you have felt if we didn't go for him?

Considering the lack of candidates out there Carlo is the best by far. Hell, he's even one of the best even if there was a plethora of outstanding candidates.

Were swimming in a different pool now with this guy. The board are never going to have been so open to scrutiny now we have him.

He will make players previously unattainable, attainable.

Its an utterly fantastic opportunity which we seem to have taken once it gets over the line.

Fair play Moshiri.
