2019/20 Carlo Ancelotti

I'm fully behind Carlo Ancelotti.

He has a hell of a job on his hands. I am glad that performance was a few weeks into his reign rather than a few months or a year. He needs to walk a fine line between pragmatism and laying down the law that is very difficult - a lot of the p***-takers yesterday will be around come the start of February unfortunately and probably required to do a job. Good luck with that Carlo!

I honestly do not know what I'd do in his position. How do you cajole that lot into performing? I don't think it's possible with some - it's engrained in them and they're not kids anymore who can be molded.

Middle of the park:
Siggurdson may just have fallen off a cliff. Schneiderlin may just not care. Walcott is incapable of better. Delph is injury prone and a bit part player at best. Iwobi- no idea. Can he get anything out of Davies? Are Gomes and Gbamin free from blame as they're on the injury table? Richarlison and Bernard are decent options for now, but long term if we want to win anything? If you told me that in 2 seasons we'd have a a different midfield with nothing from our current squad, I wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Up front:
Tosun and Niasse are not good enough. Kean was a gamble when we needed proven quality - Carlo has a decision about him to make. DCL - I like him and think he has done well recently and is at the start of something but he isn't the real deal yet. I could see none of them here again in 2 years time and wouldn't be surprised, though I hope DCL and Kean come through.

At the back.
Digne has dropped off this season. I like Mina and think he could progress. Holgate has a chance with his age. Kenny might come back in and his face fit with Ancelotti. Other than that, all them could be upgraded without me losing sleep (Coleman and Baines are veterans and need replacing whatever your opinion on them). Another area were I wouldn't be upset if they were all shipped out and replaced.

So, I could see them all go and not even be concerned about what had gone. I would of course be concerned about what is coming in to replace them. It's a huge job for Ancelotti. I hope that he has some vision for what he wants to see out there to make us successful. Right now, I don't. I know practically you can't throw the baby out with the bathwater, but I think we might not have a baby in the bathtub right now. I don't know what to think about Ancelotti right now other than he has my sympathy and support. He needs to be firm and clear with the players and hopefully we'll all be on board with what he wants.

If I don't remember wrong, he took over PSG when they were in second place. He also took over a club with unlimited funds and which had just been acquired by an investor group. If you measure this performance against the money invested in players, it is not very impressive. On the other hand, he led Reggiana to promotion to Series A in 1995-96.

My point is that he has taken over a team (PSG) that were not the juggernaut they are now. He brought them the league, and he attracted the players. He can do that here. We are also not short of cash - if the Usmanov rumours are correct.

He also took a Chelsea team to a double - four years after they had last won the Premier. The belief that Ancelotti manages only ready made massive clubs is not strictly true.

Look at the players he had at chelsea when he was there.
Cech, Cole, Terry, Ivanovich, bosingwa,Luiz, alex, essien, Ramirez, lampard, drogba, Anelka, Sturrridge,

Their isn’t a manager in the world that could get anything out of our players.
It's always been the players (and the coaches who support them). Apart from Koeman (who was just appalling) the players have downed tools to get managers sacked. Ancelotti is a different beast for them to try and bring down. Let's see how far Carlo is prepared to go to avoid that. IMO he needs to be utterly ruthless with the players and the coaching staff.

I thought we might have got a lot more of out the players yesterday at least in terms of workrate and effort in the second half.

The majority of them just didn't seem to want it, and chase balls and fight.

That's concerning so soon into Ancelotti's reign. Obviously it makes the situation far clearer for him but the sad fact is that we are relying on the bulk of these players over 2 windows and with some of them, beyond.

I just thought we might get a run of 8-10 games were it was full throttle for the new manager before the inevitable downing of tools. But the warning signs we there against City too.

You can lead a horse to water and all that.

Be interesting the team sheet this weekend. Most of them players yesterday should not be anywhere near the squad for Brighton but he still needs to put out an 11 to win the game. Will we see some youngsters given a chance until he gets in in 2 or 3 players he wants?

In a way if we had done well in the last 2 games, it would have been papering over the cracks, I, not saying I didn’t want us to go through in the FA Cup and there was no doubt we should have easily beat them lot yesterday. But Ancelotti knows now what needs to be done, we have to many square pegs round hole situations in our side, down to buying the wrong players over the last few years. Ancelotti isn’t a silva/Koeman he knows his stuff and I’m confident he will sort this quite quick. If he can we could still salvage something from the league this season, but to do that he needs to get players in ASAP.

No, he;s not. Turn what around? He's not going to be judged on two defeats against City and Liverpool. That's just nuts.

No body of Everton fans are gunning for Ancelotti, not this season they wont be. They understand where the problem lies: on the pitch, not the dugout.
They are in this very thread
