I think the main reason why our current run of form has gone largely unnoticed by the media is because of the calibre of teams we've been putting aside. If we start getting results away at Arsenal, against United & Chelsea etc. then heads will start to turn. Quickly.

Our current run of form started with a win against Chelsea, a draw against Arsenal, a draw against United. We've only lost to City in the league like. A team you'd expect to beat us.

Get some decent results from the upcoming tough run and we will go on to get europe. Confidence would be high.

Nah. It's because we're not one of the media love-in group of clubs. The same reason why any ill fortune we get is never given the same in-depth media attention it would get if it was suffered by that group - the latest example being the atrocious second booking and sending off handed out to Delph at Watford.

I look at Leicester, we were a better team than them last season, certainly up until they appointed Rodgers, they finished 9th, within 12 months they're challenging for Champions league place. I see no good reason we can't emulate that myself( maybe not in 12 months like )... Look at the turn around in form/results since Silva was sacked. I think it's deffo achievable, Then I remember we're Everton and my optimism drains away.
We'd be right up there if we weren't managed by a clueless weapon at the start of the season, we had the easiest start to the season of any team, with a decent manager we are not as far off as you'd think..

Those three results were under Ferguson though & the original comment was about how the media haven't picked up on the performance of Ancelotti.

Hopefully we get something at Arsenal as I'm confident we'll beat United at home

Post i quoted just said current run of form.

As someone else said after me, comes down to not being a media loved club. Simple as that really.

Half the point I was trying to make. The media are heavily focused on that group of clubs and until you start getting results against them no one is going to pick up on how well you are/aren't playing.

Think both of the Delph yellows are justifiable btw - the rules changed last summer and practically outlawed tackles from the side/behind

Imagine if that small run of form in April/May hadn't masked an appalling season last year and we had done the right thing and dumped Silva in the Summer.

Ancelotti has transformed this club in the short time hes been here.

Imagine if hed been here since the start.

Would be in the top 4 and be challenging City and Leicester, im certain of it.

If Silva had been sacked in the Summer we wouldn’t have Ancelotti. Think we got lucky - for once. Hopefully the start of good things.

The law against challenging from behind has been around a number of years. I'm not aware of that having been extended to challenges from the side or of any change to the directives to refs on how to treat such challenges. If it has then how come we still see the sliding tackle?
No, to my mind Pawson's decision was indefensible. It was made for him by his linesman since he himself was some 25 yards away from the play.

Carlo wanted a long term project .

Carlo wanted a club to invest both time and a decent playing budget but more the emphasis on time. In his book he constantly talks about the benefits of the relationships that he builds over time.

I honestly believe that he has found that here at Everton.

After the problems that Moshiri has encountered with previous managers he would be incredibly stupid if he did not afford Carlo time and patience when we hit the inevitable bumps in the road. And the one thing Moshiri is not is stupid.

So I hope that Carlo sees out and hopefully extends his contract. If that is the case we will have witnessed the most succesful Everton side since the 80's.

Just imagine how many more points Carlo would have attained with them same group of fixtures Silva had.
