Out of interest. Which players are we talking about here with the terrible attitudes and wont play for any manager? Are we listing them all here?

Then you can add Coleman Davies and Keane as trying hard but just not good enough. Gomes currently isn’t good enough but we’ll have to see what level he returns at after a few weeks off.

Walcott sometimes tries but often doesn’t.

But a world class manager would try and impose his methods, ways of working and tactics before wielding the axe

like I said, it’s why he’s one of the most respected and successful managers in world football. He’s probably had abar 15 training sessions before the window close

edit: plus he got 14 points from 21 before the window closed
So you're saying he didn't have enough time to hate everyone yet?

Yeah I agree. Strange one with Sigurdsson though. I mean he had a good season under Silva and prior to that he was Swansea's star man. And Icelands. Where's the competitive egde gone? Has he just aged in one season? Become a mercenary? I dont think he should be anywhere near the team next season. My point is though, shouldn't CA be able to get more out of him? We know the ability is there? Just playing devils advocate slightly

Can’t believe what I’ve read here tonight. People questioning literally one of the worlds greatest managers because these spineless cowards couldn’t put a performance out against a team who were basically already relegated. Of course they were unmotivated, they have been all season. Say what you want about Silva or any other previous managers but they cost him his job. This won’t be the case going forward though. Of course they’ll get rid of Silva, he’s a nobody, Carlo on the other hand, no chance. Brands will look at these pathetic excuses for footballers and see exactly what they’re at and Moshiri won’t part with the “Hollywood” manager that’s he’s always wanted (for better or worse). Under Carlo the manager will have the power and with these comments today I can see him as not making excuses but exactly the opposite. He’s called the players unmotivated, not himself, he’s made it clear that “those who stay” will be his players, wouldn’t be surprised if he’s already told certain players that they have no future. He’s hung them out to dry as he should. Let’s hope Brands can do some work on shifting them because if we can get them off the wage bill that alone would be huge, transfer fees would just be a bonus. Big Summer ahead but with Carlo and Brands working together I really hope we can get it right. It’s gonna be a long road but look with no Europe next season we can get away with a slimmer squad just need to pack it with more quality.

great post

He’s looked ok in very poor teams where other players have done the work. He’s swanned around hitting the odd screamer for Swansea, got found out at Spurs, had an entire season for us playing upfront and hit even less open play goals than Calvert Lewin has for us, and now a season showing that he can’t play midfield in any position. There’s nothing more to get out of him. He’s done this his entire career. He’s just a very average second striker with no pace.

To be honest I think we're all glad it's over. Even with the bizarre circumstances the end of the season was played under, Carlo knows what he's doing.
He may not have the budget he's had in the past, but he knows what he Likes and how to get what he wants out of players. He's seen what they can do, and played around with the squad a lot, which is why we probably finished 12th and not in the top half. But from September, regardless of what signings is can or can't get, he'll have a squad that is his, and that will be the beginning of the hopefully successful Ancelotti era.

When was Carlo one of the greatest managers in the world though. When he left Napoli who were in 8th place in Italy. He was coveted by Arsenal who have just finished 8th and ourselves who finished 12th. Carlo was a great manager.

Behave soft lad. There is a difference between supporting the manager and declaring him world-class. Carlo is a good manager. Slaughtering our entire playing squad to protect the manager is hugely self-destructive.

The irony is that your answer to not changing the manager so often is to change the whole squad. The reason we are in this situation is our propensity to look for short term solutions.

Carlo is not the best manager in the world and this is not the worst squad in the world. What we need is to get the best out of both.
