2019/20 Carlo Ancelotti

I think it would have been established first and foremost, especially given those who do need to leave are clearly not good enough for the manager to take us to the next level.

For what it's worth, ancelotti will get the funds needed to take us to top 6 and beyond. There's a difference between funds and wages. Funds can be unlimited but wages are what hinders the club. The higher the wage bill , the more unsustainable the playing squad becomes without top end success.

I've said it before but if we shipped out a total of 5 players now , we would free up enough weekly wages to pay 10. On the basis we aren't offering them 100 grand a week on top of that.

The money is there , I'm not doubting that notion. But it's hard to spend 50 million on a player to improve the squad when you have 5 or so players who noone wants to buy costing you 500 grand a week.
Bit of a catch 22 situation. Compounded by the fact that other than Carlo Ancelotti, our only other way of competing against teams who can offer European footy for quality players is to offer competitive wages.

I think our fans would be happy if we were seeing gradual inprovement but we are not, let's just hope you are right about Carlo and we do see the improvement we all want over this coming season.
We need a midfield first and then I think we’ll improve quite a bit. If Allan and Doucoure arrive soon then I think a considerable amount of gloom will lift.

Yeah it is, which kinda amplifies the issue of the deadwood being so well paid with no takers.

We could offer 100 grand and 50 million to a player tomorrow but have to sell siggurdson first.

We could go and sign 2 boss European players first, but have to sell Sandro and bolasie.

Until they all leave then nothing changes sadly. If by some miracle we could shift them all by deadline I would expect, market permitting, we would see a fair bit of investment.

Paying as much as we did for iwobi proves we have the money when required, it may not be world record fees but we would get our man without the burden of a deadwood wage bill.

Some people think we can sign other players whilst we pay

Sandro 120k
Bolasie 70k
Besic 40k
Tosun 80k

a week for doing zip.

None of them have contributed anything in the last few years.

Then theres the players that in an ideal world we would replace, that list is quite big so I wont bother.

Im not saying we wont have Ins without Outs, but there will come a point where we need Outs before we get Ins.

Carnt agree with you more ,shocking to see the wages paid for that lot.

Brands is failing to get rid of deadwood and is prepared, once again, to desprately buy rubbish for inflated wages. Dacoure is not wanted by anyone else! He went missing during Watford's demise. Do we really want someone like that?

It's all comin to a head.....

He will fit right in with this lot then

Sounds like he’s tailor-made for Everton:

- inflated transfer fee
- minimal end product
- limited pace
- onerous contract on big wages
- goes missing when it matters

BINGO!

Sandro is quoted as £60,000 and Tosun is quoted at £50,000per week, supposedly to have come from clubs figures.

The repercussions of that modest transfer fee was the player's salary.
He was handed an eye-watering, lottery-winning wage of six-figures plus, with only two players at Goodison, Wayne Rooney and Gylfi Sigurdsson, earning more.

Sandro is on 100k+.

Tosun ive seen anything from 50k to 110k, no real idea there.

Struggling to think of anyone else who could be another option.
We lack leaders.
He's not spoilt for choice on that one.

You're not wrong there, we don't seem to be blessed with strong characters and leaders across the squad.
That said, if all fit I'd still take Mickey Keane, Yerry, Tommy D, Lucas digne, holgate, Richy and maybe even Pickford or DCL over Iceland as Captain, any day of the week.

He offers us nothing imo, but my worry is Carlo appears to rate him - of that's the case, I'm praying he can get a tune out of him - any midfield signings will likely be key.
