2019/20 Carlo Ancelotti

It was agreed in the January, after we initially declined PSG's offer, that he would be allowed to leave in the summer if the bid was of an acceptable amount.

To go against this promise would have caused more issues and I suspect the consummate professional would have expropriated into the ether, which helps no one.
I think most of us understand that was what happened apart from someone with an agenda against Brands.

Gomes is a class player but he isn't consistent. Gbamin, who the hell knows what he's gonna to be like. He's an unknown variable. Iwobi, there's talent there but signing him is a gamble. Richalison and Digne both blow hot and cold. You simply can't rely on potential. The spine of the team should have been addressed. It wasn't.

As a consequence the table suggests we've gone backwards. Why? The previous manager, I'd say yes. Recruitment? Absolutely. We've had an incoherent strategy and we're paying the price.

If he can get Kean firing....thats all front 3 scoring goals and winning games.

is that not enough for now???
That’s the key for me. It may be just talk, but if Ancelotti says he’s not in the market for a striker in January, then he is putting a lot of faith in Kean. Let’s face it, no one will be happier with this appointment then Kean. There will be no language issues. By all accounts he’s a manager who rates him. Kean has no excuses now. He needs to knuckle down in training and listen to everything Ancelotti tells him, if he wants to be a success in this country.

Kopite texted me yesterday. They’ve signed Gomez, Milner, Robertson, Matip, Minamino and Shaqiri for all less then the outlay on Siguardsson. Of course it helps they’re surrounded by better players, but it shows you don’t have to spend fortunes to get a decent team.

Literally the only unqualified success of the Brands drunken sailor spending spree.

The hallmark of this Brands era though is the lack lof coherence. He's paid massive amounts to assemble a team that can barely be blended. It took the 45 years of experience of Ancelotti and his mastery of formations and tactics to set us up in such a way that we were able to dominate Burnley for 90 minutes at home. He literally had to throw in a box full of tricks to get the result.

What about the cone laying galoot and the Chelsea game.

We havent lost a game in 90minutes since we sacked Silva.

The players arent the problem.

Not saying we have a perfect title winning squad, but its vastly better than the 17th Silva had them in.

We've been in the bottom half of the league. Some posters would have you believe we have this collection of superstars that have been mismanaged. They haven't been mismanaged. They were deemed surplus to requirements by their clubs for a reason. Will they come good? I hope so. There's absolutely no contradiction there.

But trying to turn a group of misfits into cohesive challengers, it's fiction. Turn off your Dirty Dozen TV Christmas special and face reality. We have to catch up to Sheff Utd ffs.

Irrespective, to spend nearly half a billion and find yourself one spot above the relegation zone until recently is an absolute disgrace. It's not just the manager to blame it's recruitment. And systematic of the complete farce that's been endemic in our club.
It’s clearly the manager, he refused to change system, kept playing Sigi in number 10.

Var has cost us a lot of points this season
Beat Chelsea, should of beaten Utd,Arsenal and Spurs

sheff Utd are where they are as there being managed correctly unlike we have all season

we are no where near as bad as ppl are making out, we are short on numbers but when u can’t get rid of Niassie, Tosun, Sandro, Snides and Cocu what do u expect, all eating big wages and hardly or not playing

Very true. The signings of the summer should have made us tread water 8-10th no more no less. Silva was out of his depth getting that squad in a relegation fight with the fixtures he had. I expect Carlo to get us top 10, but we need a more coherent and successful transfer window in the summer to challenge for the top 6 places next year.

That's easy to do, they spend 78 million on Bentekke and Andy Carroll, that's more than we spent on Coleman, Bernard, Gomes, Digne and Richarlson. It's easy to pick out an expensive bust and compare it to cheap deals that worked out.

Loved the fluidity in the system he played against Burnley. Think against a team less inclined to play 11 men behind the ball it would work really well. Interested to see what kind of shape / system we employ today - looking forward to the match!
