Who is buying the players though? Seems like a mixture. I agree we need a strategy but I genuinely think he would stick to one if he trusted this team. He doesn't. These players have failed a few managers now he isn't the only one. It's also not just quality but mentality. Weak mentalities through the club.
It doesn't really matter, it'll be easier for Brands or Carlo to buy players if he knows what he's looking for precisely. We talk about needed midfield and RB but what do we actually want those players to do? The team is going to function differently if we buy someone who plays like Hakimi than it would if we buy someone who plays like Benjamin Pavard. Which fits us better? To me that answer should be known before we try to make the signings.

I don't think that's true. We all know how Klopp, Pep, Bielsa, Rodgers etc want to play - win or lose.

Again, to me that isn't the be-all and end-all. I'm not bothered about an identity as such. I am bothered about our team not being able to do simple things very well.

But the point is they dont play that way when they lose.

The Liverpool team we recently defeated, that sat off us, didnt press etc. Is that the Klopp way? Or are tactics only as good as the players implementing them?

Likewise, how would you say Bielsa wanted Leeds to play from the game they lost at Crawley.

Well this is the crux of the issue, too.

But again, players passing to each other - that shouldn't be hard to implement. Neither should at least something resembling a press.
Those are both things that are much easier to do when you're familiar with what the team is doing. Actually pressing is pretty much impossible at this level if it isn't well drilled. Everyone has to know their job.

I dont really see how it was Keanes fault. I've seen people saying this but I dont get it. The player ran directly behind Godfrey who for some reason tried to push up. I'm still confused what he was trying to do. It was a basic channel ball and he should have been goal side or at least far tighter.

Its such a soft goal even going back to DCL losing the ball on halfway.
And so was Godfrey, because he was playing in a position he's never played in before, trying to mark one of the league's best wingers on his day.

Keane was all over the shop. He can see Batshuayi, then leaves him, then hesitates, and then is stuck in no man's land. Again, a situation that probably doesn't happen in a flat four.

It was a soft goal, I agree.

We had 28% possession in the Anfield derby so I think they probably pressed us or we are just unreasonably awful on the ball.

Honestly it could be the second one.

Was totally Keanes fault. He stepped out knowing the Bat was behind him and could clearly see Godfrey had not goal side. He had no need to do it

But I mean, they do?

When Leeds got hit hard by United, they played the way that Leeds wanted to play. Against Crawley they had an off day but the 'identity was still there?

Tracking a run in behind should not be a confusing thing for any defender!

Look he made a mistake and it hurt us. Godfrey is a good player and better than he showed today and he will prove it over time.

I mean he's well thought of in football, not just Everton, mate.
Davide has had 5 jobs PSG, Madrid, Bayern, Napoli and Everton. The only person to employ him has been his aul fella. He was 22 when he got a coaching job at PSG.

If he is so highly thought of then why was he unemployed for a year when his Da had a year-long sabbatical between Bayern and Napoli.

Was it? What identity was that?

All I saw that day was a toothless side, who were laboured and slow in attack, lacked any creativity, didnt press their opponents, sat off opponents etc. Is that the Bielsa identity?

You do realise Davide has his coaching badges right? He isn't there for the sake of it

Would Carlo have him as no2 if he wasn't his son?

Would he have Big Dunc if he wasn't such a EFC icon / loved by the fans?

Thats the issue I have I imagine Carlo would have 2x more experienced and likely innovative assistants if not for the nepotism that runs through this club.

I also imagine he would punt Brands if he had the power as well.
