2020/21 Carlo Ancelotti

the only peeps I’m sneering at our those that disappear for weeks on end then comeback to take some sort of joy in us getting beat.

as well as people who get banned the immediately re-register as a welsh lass to continue spouting utter boring drivel.

To your point though; IMO I’m more than happy to let an experienced manager get to grips with the club and put in place a structure. Yes he’s signed older players because he wants success quicker, it’s up to brands to identify the younger crop for the future. We can’t account for injuries, they happen and we’ve had our fair share this year. But it is what it is, you have to deal with it.

Our home form is horrendous, nobody is denying that, but we have one of the best away records. Maybe people assumed that because Carlo Ancelotti walked through then automatically we win almost every game and challenge for the league. But even he knew it was a challenge, an opportunity to build something from the ground up; that doesn’t come in 14 months unfortunately
Just to clarify I wasn't directing the sneering thing at you individually, just in general. I do think you hint at the same issue there though. Expecting us to win every game and challenge for the league, and expecting us to do better than a point a game at home over almost an entire season are two very different things. Anyone who thinks we're winning the league in the next 10 years is in cloud cuckoo land in my opinion (barring Usmanov taking over and spending unprecedented amounts) but I honestly don't think it's unreasonable to think we might have done a bit better than we have over the last 16 months. I said at the start of the season 7th would be an OK return, lower would be disappointing. I still see it the same now.

In fairness those 2 have won us plenty of points this season by putting away the only half decent chances we've created in games, so i'm loath to criticise them too much. Last night was the first time in about 20 games that we had more shots than the opposition after all. If he doesn't get the blame when they miss chances surely he doesn't get credit when they take them?

I like Dom, a lot, but that’s got to be slotted at this level.

Please do
Poster has admitted posting in RS forum to get a rise out of them, also because they need taking down a peg or two.

Joined forum last night, claiming to have been a long time watcher. My contention is that poster is not sincere in their appraisal of Ancelotti and, by their own timeline joined RAWK before GOT thus rendering their opinion "not consistent" with an Everton fan.

mate, the home form is utterly horrible. I can’t put my finger on what it is, whether he’s trying to drill into them about a certain shape when in and out of possession or whether the players are just idiotic and not following instructions. But my point remains that I’d rather see Carlo Ancelotti resolve it than someone like Marco Silva, that’s why I’m more than happy for him to see out his contract. IMO, and not everyone will agree with this, I think this is a small pain for a longer term gain

The problem is that the fanbase thinks we are something we ain't.

34 years without a league title, 27 years without a trophy, we are a nothing club and we should thank Carlo hourly that he wants his name associated with such a failed attempt at a football club.

Carlos not without criticism but let’s not fall into the same trap as previous years by laying all the blame on the manager when it’s largely the same cowards on the pitch who’ve let down multiple managers now. Until he’s had a few windows to flesh out the squad with his own players we can’t properly judge, his signings so far have been good and have made us infinitely better when theyve been on the pitch together, the problem is when they’re out we have to turn back to the same gash cowards to fill in

Yeah of course it has. The point was just that we’ve won some games where we’ve hardly created a chance and one of them has popped up with the winner so I can’t be too critical of them on the one occasion we’ve actually given them some chances.

I'm sure that's part of it, but it's also what control the manager has over events once players cross the white line.

I've seen countless documentaries where the athlete doesn't follow the instructions laid out or the schemes worked out in training.

Two examples from last night, no way does Ancelotti tell Richarlison to act the [Poor language removed] over a free kick or tell Godfrey to abandon his right back position in search of the ball. I also doubt Ancelotti is instructing his players to drop deep, punt the ball aimlessly up the pitch whenever we get the lead, so I'm not rushing to condemn him for what looks like hardwired decision making problems within our squad.

It's possibly relevant that I never played Football Manager, so I don't believe I can control God-like every player's movement and action for 90 minutes.

Our talent is better than Palace, Burnley etc.

I would say the biggest task any football manager has is getting his team to make the right decisions. At some point when guys aren't able to consistently it has to become a management problem.

Questionable. Other than 7-8 of our players that are top quality the rest of our squad is filled with mid table fodder that wouldn’t look out of place at the likes of palace and Burnley

The problem is we’ve had many injury problems to a few of the said good players so the fodder have to play

We do not have 7-8 players that are top quality. We have one that is, James, the rest are varying degrees of ability from absolutely terrible to very good Premier League players. You could argue Digne is pushing towards top quality.
