I think Carlos logic was that coleman out on his feet, bring godfrey on to deal with pace and trickery of zaha down that side, as well as some more height to deal with last 5 minutes lump it in balls.

Backfired though as godfrey really wasnt ready for the pace or trickery of zaha and got done a couple of times. He's really not comfortable right back.

I agree. Plus the fact he had sigurdsson infront who offered no support in that situation and didnt fill in for him at RB. Then theres the matter of the lack of cover in the middle. The palace player had all day to pick his pass.

The defence in general is very panicky at times. I

It’s not that it’s Carlo Ancelotti, it’s the first time that the club has a world class manager and having someone of that quality gives you hope.

Hi @tirion??
Carlo Ancelotti isn’t a world class manager anymore. Do you truly believe Ancelotti and Mourinho would be at Everton and Spurs if they were the managers they were 5-10 years ago?

I find it astonishing that people refuse to see this.

You do realise that the other 19 teams in the league also play in empty stadiums?

How come West Ham are much better than us? They’ve got no fans.

The excuses made for Carlo are getting ridiculous. If we’re still rubbish next season it will be “he needs another 3 years”. Rinse repeat.

The only achievement under Carlo has been winning at Anfield against one of the worst Liverpool sides I’ve seen when teams like Brighton and Fulham have also been rolling up there and getting points.

When do the excuses for Carlo stop? When he’s spent £300m? £500m?

We need a modern manager who has experience of building squads. I don’t think Carlo has ever built a team has he? Not at a club like Everton anyway. It’s fine at Milan when you’re the big boys of the league - but we have Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd who all have more resources, bigger fanbases and better recent histories than we do. Players don’t come here for success, they come here as a stepping stone until they land a move to one of the Manc clubs. We needed a young manager who’s good at bringing through youth and establishing a philosophy of football like they used to have at Southampton for example. And before anyone laughs, we aren’t that much of a pull for players - and if we turn into a chequebook club and try to buy players who are big names but don’t fit into any particular system, then we’re in trouble.

Carlo is one of those appointments where the owners have just gone for a big name. There’s no planning or structure involved. It’s a mess from top to bottom and it’s a move which hasn’t improved us at all. We’re still painfully average and the manager has to take some of the blame for that - just like Koeman and Martinez did.
Ancelloti clearly is.

Have a lie down mate. Your getting all flustered

Hi @tirion??
I get that, but the reaction to people who don't share that feeling seems a bit odd to me. I've said a million times i'm absolutely not saying get rid, and he's definitely not doing a bad job, but i'm not seeing that much evidence he's doing a particularly good one either. We look unlikely to finish any higher than we did in the 3 seasons before he came, the football isn't any better, and we've added expensive older players who aren't here for a long term project. I find the sneering at people who aren't convinced a bit weird.

I find it astonishing that you flit from forum to forum posting about football managers.

Although, you probably see it as some sort of quest, with an amulet or trinket as your reward.

Behold, Cerys, for speaking the truth about Benitez, you are banished, you will walk alone, for that is the fate decreed by the council of RAWK.

Ancelloti clearly is.
He’s not though. James came here because no one else would touch him with a barge pole due to his horrific injury record. What other household names do we have? Players will still choose Man Utd over us and they have Solsjkaer in charge who’s a terrible manager!

Players don’t move clubs because of managers, it’s a tired old cliche. They move because they:

1. get offered better wages elsewhere

and/or

2. champions league football / the promise of trophies

Why is it so bad that I posted at RAWK? They needed bringing down a peg over there but it was like dealing with a cult.

Because you are an Everton fan, they are Liverpool fans.

Although, it's interesting to me that you joined RAWK before GOT, however, I'll reserve my opinion on that for now.

Your opinion, no matter how salient is totally irrelevant to them, as theirs is to us.

You seem fixated on Mourinho also, which of the Spurs forums do you frequent?

the only peeps I’m sneering at our those that disappear for weeks on end then comeback to take some sort of joy in us getting beat.

as well as people who get banned the immediately re-register as a welsh lass to continue spouting utter boring drivel.

To your point though; IMO I’m more than happy to let an experienced manager get to grips with the club and put in place a structure. Yes he’s signed older players because he wants success quicker, it’s up to brands to identify the younger crop for the future. We can’t account for injuries, they happen and we’ve had our fair share this year. But it is what it is, you have to deal with it.

Our home form is horrendous, nobody is denying that, but we have one of the best away records. Maybe people assumed that because Carlo Ancelotti walked through then automatically we win almost every game and challenge for the league. But even he knew it was a challenge, an opportunity to build something from the ground up; that doesn’t come in 14 months unfortunately

I keep asking what people see that suggests we're going the right way and it is largely things that for me don't point to any sort of longer term upward growth toward being as successful as we want to be. Like yeah, we won at Anfield, but is winning one game at Anfield really pointing toward us making the CL in the next couple years? Or sure we've brought in some decent players like James and Allan, but they're 30 and unlikely to play more than 25 games a season, so is that moving us upward?

I'm not saying Carlo can't do it, just that in 15 months I personally don't see much to hang our hats on aside from the results we were getting for awhile. But suddenly they're kind of not great either and I don't think we are really left with much at all. So the point is to say I'm not really convinced either and I'm a little confused as to why that is being portrayed as completely taboo.

They are second in the league, play CL football regularly, are one of the most successful clubs in English football and one of the biggest brands in the world.
