Both Richarlison and DCL had good chances after we scored. Both were saved but DCLs was a very easy chance.

We should have been 3 goals ahead in the game and that was by taking only half of our clear chances.
In fairness those 2 have won us plenty of points this season by putting away the only half decent chances we've created in games, so i'm loath to criticise them too much. Last night was the first time in about 20 games that we had more shots than the opposition after all. If he doesn't get the blame when they miss chances surely he doesn't get credit when they take them?

I mean, I count 4 attempts. So maybe if you fancy having a proper read before continuing.

Must be difficult to read. 3 shots on target from Everton once the goal happened. 1 from Richarlison before CP scored. 1 from DCL which, of course. 1 shot after from Richarlison after they scored. Where is this mythical 4th attempt coming from? And my point is that we rarely push on after we score. Sitting back is what Carlo wants the team to do which leaves them to absorb more and more pressure and chances. And we have nowhere near the players for that.

Keane headed one wide from a corner late on. Just because it missed the target doesn't mean we've not had an attempt at scoring... so yes, must be difficult for you to read.

So, again, we cannot do what Carlo wants us to do which is to sit back and sit back and sit back until we concede and THEN decide maybe we should probably try to get a second and that's disproving my point that we sit back way too often after we score?

I think Carlos logic was that coleman out on his feet, bring godfrey on to deal with pace and trickery of zaha down that side, as well as some more height to deal with last 5 minutes lump it in balls.

Backfired though as godfrey really wasnt ready for the pace or trickery of zaha and got done a couple of times. He's really not comfortable right back.

I admire your persistence but if you think having 4 attempts post-goal, 1 being a sitter, 2 being good saves, is us sitting back then I'll label you Mr Agenda and leave you to your evening.

If fans were in Goodison we'd be winning far more matches.

These players need the help. They seem to lack motivation from within.
You do realise that the other 19 teams in the league also play in empty stadiums?

How come West Ham are much better than us? They’ve got no fans.

The excuses made for Carlo are getting ridiculous. If we’re still rubbish next season it will be “he needs another 3 years”. Rinse repeat.

The only achievement under Carlo has been winning at Anfield against one of the worst Liverpool sides I’ve seen when teams like Brighton and Fulham have also been rolling up there and getting points.

When do the excuses for Carlo stop? When he’s spent £300m? £500m?

We need a modern manager who has experience of building squads. I don’t think Carlo has ever built a team has he? Not at a club like Everton anyway. It’s fine at Milan when you’re the big boys of the league - but we have Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd who all have more resources, bigger fanbases and better recent histories than we do. Players don’t come here for success, they come here as a stepping stone until they land a move to one of the Manc clubs. We needed a young manager who’s good at bringing through youth and establishing a philosophy of football like they used to have at Southampton for example. And before anyone laughs, we aren’t that much of a pull for players - and if we turn into a chequebook club and try to buy players who are big names but don’t fit into any particular system, then we’re in trouble.

Carlo is one of those appointments where the owners have just gone for a big name. There’s no planning or structure involved. It’s a mess from top to bottom and it’s a move which hasn’t improved us at all. We’re still painfully average and the manager has to take some of the blame for that - just like Koeman and Martinez did.

If DCL scores that sitter straight after our goal then the game is over. Those are the big moments in matches and we need to better at taking them when we have the momentum.

No it is a fair point. We had 11 shots in 56 minutes before we scored, and 2 shots in 4 minutes after they scored, but only 2 shots in 30 minutes while we were 1-0 up. Regardless of the clear evidence of our eyes, the stats also back up that we took our foot of the pedal. I'm not saying we shut up shop the second we scored, and never crossed the halfway line again, but there was a pretty obvious change in the way we played, and it just didn't work. That happens sometimes, and it's fine, but it happens with us a lot. It's pretty clearly a tactic, and it's a very dangerous one.

Hi @tirion??

We rely on Goodison a lot. Some teams rely on home advantage, some dont. Like City dont but Liverpool do. And the results reflect that.

Look at our best 2 home wins in December. We had 2k fans in the ground.

Our home record is not good enough but the effort from some players in some of our home games hasn't been acceptable either. There's been tactical mistakes for sure but these are highly paid players who continue to repeatedly make basic individual mistakes.

In terms of the money, the 55-60m spent is not enough. We need to spend an awful lot more than that because all the big teams spend over that on single players. We need 3 or 4 top players this summer. We gave Koeman far more money than Carlo has got so far and that cant be right.

The excuses stop for him when the squad is overhauled and he has had 2 full seasons. While he is still forced to play players who have failed repeatedly under several managers, then I will blame the players. Everything was in place to win the game yesterday and players failed to do their jobs properly. Why do people insist in giving the players a free pass? If they continue to fall short then they should be moved on. The time for patience and sentimentality towards players needs to end.
