Digne has been roughly consistent as he was under Silva, Siggurdson perhaps not as good but he’s been on a downward spiral for years. Gomes is poor, is that Carlo or just his injury? Pickford is probably in the best form he’s been for a while .

Some of them just aren’t good enough and they haven’t been for any manager. There’s no getting away from that regardless of manager.

I agree the squads poor - but not as poor as squads of teams like Newcastle and Fulham who have played us off the park this season.

That ultimately has to be on the manager / coaching if we cant beat those types of sides. Obviously every side loses to a lesser team now and again but the performances particularly at home against lesser sides has been consistently very poor.

Our performances in 2021 have been extremely poor both at home and away. Even in the wins, they’ve hardly been convincing and we’ve been hanging on to a 1-0 lead against teams like West Brom and Southampton.

Yeah I am happy to give him another season though as I look at Utd who seem to have stepped up slightly having persisted with OGS and Carlo has shown he can do it albeit with better players.

The start of the season was fantastic so im holding onto the hope that if we can bring in 3-4 top players this summer we can get back to that type of system / set up.

The problem is giving Brands the money to spend - would rather let Carlo bring in the likes of Koulibaly etc and we scout a top drawer DOF to come in and prep for next January/following summer.

I do think it is make or break next season for him though in terms of performances/league finish more so with the fans rather than the board who I think would keep him at the club regardless of where we finish providing its top half whilst BMD is being built.

Our manager has won more at every practically every individual club he's managed than our 5 previous managers combined in their whole careers......

lets go back to the lottery model eh? In fact.... Name a manager who will come to us if we sack Carlo?

My main beef is with Brands who for me has failed in his job however when you look at the points dropped this season (Newcastle x2, Fulham, Leeds, Burnley, Palace, WHU at home) some of the performances and set up / tactics have been awful and he needs to accept responsibility for it.

Im on the fence with Carlo - Im happy to give him next season to see what he can do but I dont think he'll have the same cult like support he currently has with the fanbase if we fail to get at least 6th/7th next season and europe particularly if we spend big this summer.

I've pretty much written this season off to finish 8th-9th based on recent results.

How did Alex Ferguson go from nearly getting sacked to being one of the best in the game???

I can't recall him winning titles with Norman Whiteside, Clayton Blackmore, Mark Robins....... Although a goal from Robins did stop him getting sacked... Yeah it was down to getting his players in.

I'm also worried about the lack of progression when it comes to how we play, and it's embarrassing to watch at times. At the same time, we have done well in terms of points, and we still have opportunities to qualify for Europe. Let's just wait and see how the season goes, and then evaluate.

No matter how this season ends, Ancelotti is here at the beginning of next season. But next season I expect us to play better football, and definitely be a top 6 team.
 
Give Carlo a 5 year contract and let it run unless he gets us relegated.

Cant do much worse than the last 30+ years of chopping and changing and winning nothing.

Or we could just keep on repeating the same mistakes we've made over and over again.

When his first choice 11 is playing we've mainly played well through the season so let him build on that over a few years. He knows the styles he wants to play so let him build a squad that can consistently deliver that.

problem is when you give a manager alot of money to spend the expected result is some form of success hence why koeman and silva were ultimately given the chop

if we give ancelotti 100 + mil in the summer to sign some more players and by February 2022 we are lounging near the relegation zone with defeats at home to norwich and fulham then what do you do?
