Thing is if ancelotti doesn’t work where do we go from there - we’ve tried the famous ex footballer big name, the grizzled old pro manager, the shiny new up and coming coach now the most decorated manager out there. is there something endemically wrong with us - a sort of pl version of Sunderland?

I honestly think this club is just rotten from top to bottom I have done for years.

That's 3 games his selection has been all over the place ......Tuson 2 cameo roles booked twice .,..Moise Kean not replaced..... Our football is so slow plus no right winger to protect the full back .....teams have sussed this out .......

It’s probably frustration as he is making some very strange decisions which aren’t helping the situation.

I agree my criticism today is scathing but that is due to the feeling of another false dawn.

he is restricted by still having crap or average players to choose between, and others above them that are decent at times but still have doubts around them. As many were saying in the last couple weeks, it’s not like dropping that clown Siggurdson would mean somebody much better would come in. I prefer Gomez but he has been poor last two games and even if he played like in the opening games I couldn’t say he would be the difference between winning and losing that game today

for now parts of the team are going to be filled by unreliable players that are going to continue to annoy us

It’s a bad spell, a bump in the road, we were always going to have this. He knows enough about football to turn it round and find the answers. We can’t get a better manager than him. There is no one better we could attract. He needs time to weed out the bad players and replace them with better ones which he has done with the one window he’s had so far.

Allan, James, Doucoure, Nkonkou, Godfrey, Olsen are all better than

Schneiderlin, Walcott, Garbutt, Dowell, Martina, Lossl, Niasse.

I know the pace of change is not as quick as we want but just look at that lower list of names. They were in our squad and needed replacing. The issue is that the ‘old’ first team of Sigurdsson Davies Iwobi Tosun Bernard is now the backup options and are proving to be just as unsuited to that role as they were last season to being in the first team.

The clubs we’re competing against have players like Doucoure on their bench of not even making their squad.

The rebuild of Everton is going to be a long painful process because we’ve had 7 years of regression and downgrading of the squad. Top 6 players such as prime Baines Coleman Mirallas Fellaini, Lukaku Barkley Stones Gueye have been either sold or regressed without proper replacement. Richarlison Digne and Gueye have been the only decent signings since Martinez’s first season until Carlo arrived. That sort of inept recruitment is not going to be fixed in one window.

Carlo needs time.

I get what you're saying there, although the player comparison is a bit off. Garbutt, Dowell, Martina and Lossl didn't play for us once last season. On the flip side, is Cenk Tosun better than Moise Kean? Cause that's who we've replaced him with. I'm just a bit confused why we spent so much on Godfrey to be a fourth choice centre back when there are more concerning positions to replace.

We haven’t been able to defend properly most of the season. It’s a big concern and something that needs addressing.

You make some good points. But what people are frustrated at is that players, as you point out, like james doucoure and Allan are better than schniederlin, Walcott and niasse, yet we are all worried that we could finish in a position similar to where we did when we had those players. Big Sam, as much as I detest that guy, showed that in a short period of time, he can organise and get points, no matter the personnel. Shouldn’t we expect more from someone like Carlo with better players at his disposal???

Doesn’t matter if they didn’t play. They’re the direct players that the new arrivals have replaced in the squad. No one can deny that the quality of the squad has increased from last season. He shifted out players offering nothing and got in players that are now going straight into the first team. The problem is that it was probably only Richarlison Digne DCL and Holgate out of the entire squad last season that didn’t need replacing. You can’t replace a squad of 30 plus players in one window.

The answer is you can only have one defensive passenger infront of the defence - Both James and either one of Gomes/Sig/Iwobi is one too many.

If you play James which we should you have to have either Gbamin or Delph in midfield but both are crocks.

Why Godfrey has to be a temporary solution until Gbamin is fit or we get to January.

Yeap. Holgate was always going to come back. Profilic striker or a GK would have been much beneficial to the team.

True. But with those new signings we've gone from 1.5 points per game to 1.6 points per game. The team needs to work harder, I'm sick of letting teams come onto us with little closing down.
