That's 3 games his selection has been all over the place ......Tuson 2 cameo roles booked twice .,..Moise Kean not replaced..... Our football is so slow plus no right winger to protect the full back .....teams have sussed this out .......
Also Allan and Doucoure get over run every week when they are playing with the ghost (Sigurdsson). We badly need legs in there.

I think 8th would be pretty underwhelming to be honest. Silva finished 8th and everyone claims he was absolutely useless. We’ve got all the same good players and have spent a load more money on players who are older than the model was supposed to be, I assume because we were trying to push forward faster. Just getting back to where already were is a bit meh really. People have a habit of massively overstating these awful downward spirals that we’re apparently on when managers get sacked, as if it’ll take 5 years to recover from a poor 7/8 games.

8th place challenging to be higher with the signs of a good team forming would be a good start for me to build something on

It’s been miserable for years, I can wait a bit for this manager to work on us

if he is still having to work with Siggurdson he is a long way off having the squad he wants I think

It’s a bad spell, a bump in the road, we were always going to have this. He knows enough about football to turn it round and find the answers. We can’t get a better manager than him. There is no one better we could attract. He needs time to weed out the bad players and replace them with better ones which he has done with the one window he’s had so far.

Allan, James, Doucoure, Nkonkou, Godfrey, Olsen are all better than

Schneiderlin, Walcott, Garbutt, Dowell, Martina, Lossl, Niasse.

I know the pace of change is not as quick as we want but just look at that lower list of names. They were in our squad and needed replacing. The issue is that the ‘old’ first team of Sigurdsson Davies Iwobi Tosun Bernard is now the backup options and are proving to be just as unsuited to that role as they were last season to being in the first team.

The clubs we’re competing against have players like Doucoure on their bench of not even making their squad.

The rebuild of Everton is going to be a long painful process because we’ve had 7 years of regression and downgrading of the squad. Top 6 players such as prime Baines Coleman Mirallas Fellaini, Lukaku Barkley Stones Gueye have been either sold or regressed without proper replacement. Richarlison Digne and Gueye have been the only decent signings since Martinez’s first season until Carlo arrived. That sort of inept recruitment is not going to be fixed in one window.

Carlo needs time.

my TLDR version of that would be shut up and let’s see where we are end of next season

You make some good points. But what people are frustrated at is that players, as you point out, like james doucoure and Allan are better than schniederlin, Walcott and niasse, yet we are all worried that we could finish in a position similar to where we did when we had those players. Big Sam, as much as I detest that guy, showed that in a short period of time, he can organise and get points, no matter the personnel. Shouldn’t we expect more from someone like Carlo with better players at his disposal???

Big Sam’s 8th place finish needs to start having some context, we got the same number of points we did that season as last season’s 12th place finish got us. I think Allardyce overachieved a bit if honest but he took a bottom half squad and got what would normally be a bottom half points total by actually getting a tune out of a few players.

Ancelotti took a bottom half squad and now has the expectation of a top 4 finish. I’d love that to happen but it’s essentially a bottom half squad with a few class players in it. If they’re out of unfit then we don’t perform. The rest of the top ten have squads they can swap good players in any position. Leicester can lose Pereira at RB and play Castagne. We lose Coleman and our option is a player some believe isn’t good enough for the prem. we lose Digne and it’s Nkonkou, Spurs have Ben Davies behind Reguilon.

Ancelotti needs stability and time like Moyes had. A continuous process of numerous transfer windows getting bad players out and replacing them with better ones until e end up with a squad of 22 players who are all top 6 level. Then god forbid we might actually challenge the top 6.

Think that Don Carlo is only as good as Richarlson wants to be.
Richardson plays...And plays well. Our manager looks good.

We all know who our manager has managed before. So please don't remind me. This is now Everton. And that has been awful since Richarlson has been out. Never going to win much with Siggy.....Bernard and Iwobi. Why can't Gordon and Nkounkou not even make the bench?
Awful football. And equally awful decisions from our manager in recent weeks. Don Carlo would be better off when he doesn't have Richarlson available handing over the reins to Duncan Ferguson. Maybe at least see some passion. And yes I know that that is not how things work. But what has worked in recent weeks? Nothing. A complete and utter big nothing.
Poor team......And sorry to say.....poor management in recent weeks.
But all will be well. Richardson back for the next match. And Don Carlo will again be looking world class. Hopefully.
So there you are. Our manager is imo only as good as his best player.
Ps........another stupid and baffling decision.......why drop Olsen after just one game.
And last point.........Don Carlo has now been here long enough to figure out the players that just cannot be depended on. A few youngsters couldn't have done any worse. No points from three matches. A lower league team might have even managed a point or two.
Ah well folks........normal service has been resumed......

I see.

That's an interesting take @The Trinity.

So Ancelotti's Everton "success" is based entirely on Richarlison?

Richarlison plays and our manager looks good?

When Richarlison isn't available, Ancelotti should give the job to Duncan Fergison?

Interesting.

Shame he couldn't make Marco Silva look good isn't it?

The point I take away from your rant there is Richarlison is absolutely vital to Everton and Ancelotti is a fraud without Richarlison and that it's OK because Richarlison is back from this point on.

Moments later in the thread you say it's nonsense to suggest missing players (Including Richarlison, Digne, Holgate, Coleman and Rodriguez) should influence results, but I'm sure that's beside the point.

Nonsense........Southampton lose Ings for their match last night. And still win easily. The rs haven't lost since saint Virgil has been out. We miss our best player and lose three matches on the bounce.
Awful football.......And awful management in recent weeks. As bad as anything Silva served up.

Yep.....read it again. It's sprinkled with ifs. If this and if that.
And we haven't exactly had half the team out. A few players. But not half the team. And isn't that what having a squad is all about.

We are predictable , dont make enough chances and to easy to score agaist.
, DLC up front with nobody around him same performansce level as the last manager with the same results . The last few games we have gone right back to square one.
Not help himself playing the same culprids over and over again, strange substutions and handling of gordon,
but he was left in a bad position once we let are only winger and back up striker go and not having replacements in, who ever is responable for that has given this season which could have been a decent one looking like its going to drift into us being at midtable
needs to put his foot down in the next window and get a few in.

I have no doubt that sigurdsson wouldn’t get near the team if he could have any player he wanted in the world, but that’s never going to happen is it? It’s not like he’s got no other options, but he has consistently picked sigurdsson ever since he took over, it’s fairly clear that he rates him so I don’t think he’s the best example to use really.

he was on the bench for the start of the season with Gomes taking his role....until he went off the boil so I don’t think that’s true at all.

im pretty certain he got the measure of him during the end of last season and he would prefer not to have to work with Siggurdson and others but we are limited in how quickly we can turn over this squad

He’s got on the pitch in every single game we’ve played this season, and every single game he was fit for last season after Ancelotti took over. He’s also been given the armband a number of times. If he doesn’t rate him then he’s got a very, very, strange way of showing it.
