2020/21 Carlo Ancelotti

After the Derby we're pretty much back to one game a week. No excuses for messing about specifically at the back.

Not fussed on either keeper. Pick one and stick with it. The back four have looked shaky specifically best pieces where we were doing so well.

Again pick a line up, mould it, and stick with it unless there's injuries.

For me it's Godfrey mina Keane digne.

(There is an argument though digne sits out the next two games an we go 4 centre backs again)

Midfield Allan doucoure Davies. gomes and sigurdsson should be nowhere near the team unless, again, we've injuries

The players don't get a pass for last nights lacked of effort.

But Carlo messed up big time last night.

I mean there’s no way Carlo sends them out saying “right lads, no intensity today, sit off them, don’t match their effort or desire to win the game, largely just stroll about and it’ll be fine”. He must be as frustrated as we are seeing non-performances against poor teams.

He didn’t get the line up right last night though. I’m really hoping he can see who the serial offenders are and is working with Brands to move them on in the summer.

8th-10th this season, long way for us to go as a team.
We will then go on and beat Citch and RS but lose to Soton this is our character this season.

What’s the excuse for second half. He should have put a rocket up their backside. Taken 3 of the Lazy ones off as a sign he won’t stand for it.

In what way were we "open" today? Or against Newcastle, twice? Or Southampton? Or Leeds? Or Leicester? We didn't push forward at almost any point in those matches.

We have almost no attacking.... Anything.

Fair point.

I think we set up trying to be open. We have 2 number 10's on the pitch, a creative midfielder in Gomes, two attacking full backs, and 2 CB's who can carry the ball out. The problem is, as you say, that just putting more attacking players on the pitch, doens't automatically mean more attacking football.

I think we need a base to build from, which is our best back 4 (the 4 cb's).

Godfrey has been our best defensive left back, and not done so well at right back. Agree with the sentiment, but the 4 CB's should play. Digne if he gets in should be wide left.

I'd like to see us go back to what worked, which was the 4 CB's. For all the criticisms of Holgate, he is miles better than Coleman at right back.

The tiredness excuse is really winding me up this morning

If they only want to turn up for half the matches every week then maybe they can reimburse the club with half their salary for that week. What a pathetic argument. Only a club with a ginormous losing mentality would actually use that excuse against a side like Fulham. Lots of the players involved never even started on Wednesday, and some of them were the worst culprits.

Why didn’t he change it at half time when it was clear that the players were doing that?

Exactly, why not make a mark at HT and change system and personnel. Waited and hoped as if by magic we were going to improve by doing the exact same!
Changes were both incorrect and too late and game was dead.

Everyone knew we would wait to be a goal down before we made changes. He also made completely the wrong changes last night too. It was a shambles from start to finish.

Its all well and good sipping coffee when we are going hell for leather in a game trying to win.. but his passive demeanour while his players in front of his eyes are idly letting a soon to be relegated team rip them open isnt good enough, and definitely doesnt send out the right message.

Coleman and Digne aren’t good enough one on one to be exposed as they are in the 433. Docuoure and Siggurdson can’t play those wide roles. The fullbacks then get nervous and just sit deep and it leads to no pressure on the ball. They looked far more comfortable when they have Richalrison and Iwobi infringe of them in the 4231 which is the formation we keep winning with away from home before reverting to this one we can’t play at home.

Breaking records for us, in the wrong manner both Leeds and Fulham hadn’t won at Goodison for almost centuries. Thought sleeping on it would make the result feel less heartbreaking, it didn’t. Shocking.
Same....it’s not so much the results for me, it’s the appalling performance again only 2 weeks since the last one.

we haven’t really beaten anybody really convincingly for months and that includes the mighty Rotherham.
