2020/21 Carlo Ancelotti

I think we find ourselves in a position at the minute where certain teams raise their game and work rate when they play us, coupled with our players feeling like they can half arse the game and get a result.

That’s not to say Ancelotti is absolved of any of the blame for these results. He needs to be able to motivate the players to an extent and stop thinking he can make too many weird tweaks and still keep a balanced team.

I can’t say I’ve seen much of Fulham apart from when they’ve played us, maybe they play that way every game. But certainly Newcastle, didn’t play anything like they’d done in the games previous to our recent match with them.
Fulham play that way every game, Newcastle don't.

So basically we aren’t as good as Fulham? As that’s what that sentence says to me.

Depends how you measure it. Over a season against all forms of opposition, we’re a lot better than them. In one off games when we play too many of our slow players against their quick ones. We’ll struggle. We’ll do exactly the same against Villa as well if we ply a similar lineup and formation as Barkley Mcginn Grealish will run wild. Against Spurs however the lesser pace of Hojbjerg Winks Dele Alli Kane meant we had time to pick out passes round them. Stoke had a great record against Arsenal because their strength played exactly into Arsenal’s weakness, it didn’t mean they were better than them, just that in a one off it can show. 4231 with Allan Docuoure in the middle, Godfrey Holgate wingbacks, Iwobi Richalrison out wide and DCL upfront and that probably doesn’t happen last night Carlo got it wrong. But he won’t have said ‘go out and deliberately sit back’. He picked the wrong team and Gomes Davies Siggurdson James Coleman got forced backwards.

This season is very similiar Marco Silva first season in charge. We will finish more and less the same position. With Silva, was 8th, with Carlo will be more and less the same...

Not being funny but who do you think we are? We don’t have any right to turn up against anyone expecting to roll them over, we’re Everton who have been crap for decades and finished 12th last season. We have to fight for every point in this league. Unbelievably arrogant and delusional way of thinking, that.
We were crap, then we got Ancelotti, we are different gravy, and arrogant or not, that's the truth, be it Gomes, Siggy, Richy, DCL, Davis, Digne, Coleman, Holegate, Mina, Keane, Gordon, Daccoure, Allan, James, Bernard, Iwobi, Pcikford, Llosl, Gbamin, Kenny, Olsen, Nkonkou

Any 11 I pick from that looks better to me than Fulhams.

Sorry it sounds like being a bell, but with the players he bought in and the squad we have, it's just fact. We are better, we didn't win because we didn't put the effort in.

A win yesterday would put us on 40 points - with 2 games on the teams above us, potentially leaving us joint 2nd.
We have been crap for decades, but we are not that Everton currently, and it's disappointing we didn't show up, but honestly, which 11 < Fulhams first team?

There are loads of players there that wouldn’t get near Fulham’s team. Gomes, Coleman, Holgate, either of the keepers, Sigurdsson, any of the youngsters at the moment. Then you’ve included players out on loan like Kenny and injured/dead like Gbamin for some reason. I think you’re being incredibly delusional about the level we are at as a team.

not sure if siggy and Gomes are a level above Fulham. Put these 2 clowns in Fulham midfield and their entire game plan will collapse. No pace no fight no positive passing, slowing down their attack. Amazing how 2 players can limit the entire team to such an extend.
