I hope Carlo will be backed for his signings this summer.

With another window we will be able to complete surely.
We will need
GK
RB
RW (who can play all across the front 3)
CF
CM
With all of them being first team ready
Then we may compete
Going all Zatman Here

GK ?????
RB ?????
CB Keane
CB Mina
LB Digne
CM Allan
CM Doucoure
CM ??????
RM James (plus rotation player as James cannot start every game )
CF DCL
LM Ricarlison

That's a lot of money to spend with little coming back in sales
Kean. ,Holgate Kenny will generate a few quid ,the rest not so much

I wasn't laying that at your door, but I must admit I find it frustrating that any criticism is labelled as uninformed or even madness. I am mad about the state of our recent performances, and it appears to me that some lessons have not been learned.
I think you/we have reasons to be frustrated.

I'm taking comfort from the fact that 'in theory' the issue we are currently facing - being able to put away the lower league teams should be easier to solve.

Carlo has forgotten more than I will ever know about football. But, if he could get the teams to start these matches with some intensity I think a lot would start falling into place.

It’s absolutely right to question him though. It’s wrong to talk of him being sacked or being a failure or whatever (which almost nobody is doing despite the usual claims to the contrary) but some of our recent home performances have been nothing short of dreadful. If you can’t question a manager when you haven’t beaten a PL team at home over 90 minutes in your last 6 attempts (and you’d have to say it would be an enormous shock if that didn’t become 7 tomorrow) then I’m not sure when you can.

Id just throw in that the lack of fans has clearly altered the whole home/away complexion. I’d be amazed if our away form was anything g like as good if fans were around and equally we’d probably have done better at home. Even the likes of United Liverpool, and Leicester have both been poor (for them) this season at home. It’s a league wide issue. I’m not absolving Ancelotti of the blame for bad performances within this context, or the need to question why they’re happening, it’s just pointing out that in a ‘normal’ season we may wel have beaten quite a few of those sides at home we’ve lost to but also have drawn or lost more of the tough away games.

It doesn't matter if its at home in this climate. There is no home advantage. Its same reason I won't over praise the away record. Just happy with the season in general.
Well it still matters. Home advantage might not be what it usually is, but we play half our games at home, so if we can't win there it's still a bit of a problem. I'm relatively happy with how the season is going, I hate the football we play but i'm happy with the results in the main. If we qualify for Europe i'll be happy. If we win the cup i'll be ecstatic. If we continue to falter at home and finish 8th or lower I won't be particularly happy.

Ancelotti is not a tactical genius. His gift is getting good players to play well for him. Currently we don't have enough good players. He has given great self-belief to DCL and to an extent Tom Davies. He's brought in Allan, Doucoure, Rodriguez and Godfrey, who all make our best 11. I have no doubt that he will bring in another 2 or 3 players in the next window who will improve us again, and next season we will be looking at challenging for the cups and finishing in the top 8. The season after that 2 or 3 more who will improve us, and then hopefully challenging for the top 4, depending on how the established Champions League teams are doing. This is a big job, he said so himself. He is ready for a long haul for what may be his toughest job. The question is whether we can show the patience to support him.
Hes produced some tactical master classes this season imo. If his only quality was just being a flash mega team manager that just steadies super clubs towards trophies this pish poor mediocre Everton team would be in serious serious trouble.

We have produced some brilliant performances this season and we are well placed for Europe. Fulham will beat more than us in the fight for thier survival and WBA drew and should have beating a United side touted for the prem a few weeks ago. They are a team of top quality players. We will very well lose another struggling side again. It is what it is.

If anything Carlo has proved he is more than a cardboard stand in manager of super clubs in half of a first season in charge.

We are looking for change.
That’s why you bring a manager of this calibre in.
From afar and overall, we are seeing an improvement, in that a better class of player is being brought in, also the win ratio has improved.
When you drill down though as an Everton fan, the style of football is absolutely dreadful, we are so boring, defensive and struggle to dictate any game against any form of opposition.
Like I wrote earlier, when was the last game we took the game to the opponent and dictated the play?
50 matches in to his reign some things are great and some things are dreadful, there’s no middle ground on anything.

Moyes will do well there but they will probably never make that final step due to his mentality. Thats what we have bought Carlo in for, as he knows what it takes and has been there and done it
Seen Moyes last press conference
Still at the taking a knife to a gunfight talk
Lots of excellent really quality teams around us and so on
The man has not got a winners mentality
He had the squad and the money at United and failed

I understand that, but it's still an issue. Teams are finding that home advantage isn't as much of an advantage as it was, but it shouldn't be a hindrance. It is still an issue that needs to be addressed. Whatever it is that is stopping us from winning at home will very quickly unravel the season if it isn't fixed soon. We've put ourselves in a good position to have a crack at Europe and even in the top 4 but that's all we've done. We could still very easily find ourselves finishing bottom half if things take a turn for the worse, we're as close to Leeds in 11th as we are to Chelsea in 4th. It's been a weird season and teams are tightly bunched, we can't just pick and choose which bits of that we want to take notice of.

Hmmm not so sure about that.
We have set up to frustrate and be solid.
Name the last game we played really well? We cling on, or just do enough for me.

Carlo literally just said flat out no we're not in a title race and top 4 is unlikely when we were 2nd in the league like, but you know, no point in focusing on what actually happens when you can just throw the word 'mentality' into a sentence and act as if it explains everything.

I agree with you, I don’t think anyone is picking and choosing, I’ve not known a more demanding environment to be honest. Progress in the cup and in an ok league position hasn’t in my experience been met with such consistent pressure at the occurrence of dropped points. That’s a good thing as it shows expectations are where they should be. It has to be kept in the season wide perspective though. If we qualify for Europe with this squad and end up at Wembley it’s difficult to criticise Carlo too much (although perhaps there’ll always be a case of opportunity lost that every team will feel in some form). The reactions to individual games don’t do us much good inevitable as they are.

We are not Man City mate. We have a lot of crap players. So to get some the results we have against big sides for me has been brilliant. And its not like we have being playing big Sam stuff. Carlo is used to managing big clubs with great players all his life the adjustment he has had to make and still pull this off makes it more impressive.

Like I myself even had my doubts when we signed him if he can manage down in the mud giving his club history. Now I know he can. I look forward to the day he keeps attracting better players and we turn into one them teams he has a habit of winning trophies with.

Keeper: Rui Silva (free), RB: Celik (€20m), CM: Rabiot (€30m), Winger I don’t know Thauvin? (free) providing King is doing ok and get a two year deal as the backup CF.

Recoup some funds from the sale of Kenny, Tosun, Bernard, Kean (all together close to €50m). I would like to move on more players but I know we can’t get rid all in one go this summer.
