2020/21 Carlo Ancelotti

We had of beating Fulham. We would all be talking champions league. Not one person would be in here questioning Carlo. So why does one game make a difference. Yes it adds to a few other unexpected bad results at home. But we seem to be more than making up for it away. So just chill tell we can figure it out.

I agree with you, I don’t think anyone is picking and choosing, I’ve not known a more demanding environment to be honest. Progress in the cup and in an ok league position hasn’t in my experience been met with such consistent pressure at the occurrence of dropped points. That’s a good thing as it shows expectations are where they should be. It has to be kept in the season wide perspective though. If we qualify for Europe with this squad and end up at Wembley it’s difficult to criticise Carlo too much (although perhaps there’ll always be a case of opportunity lost that every team will feel in some form). The reactions to individual games don’t do us much good inevitable as they are.
I think a lot of people are picking and choosing personally. There's a lot of talk about increased points, but ultimately that doesn't matter if everybody is in the same boat. What we need to do is finish higher in the league; 8th with 54 points is better than 9th with 58 points etc. We can't say we've improved just because we got more points if that improvement isn't relative to our competitors. The fact that this is a bit of a mad season has turned certain things on their head. If we accept that home form will take a dive then we also have to accept that the 'par' number of points for finishing in each position may also have gone up. I agree though that if we qualify for Europe it's job done. I said at the start of the season that I thought 7th would be a 'good' season and I stand by that now. That's why I'm seemingly not quite as blown away by the season so far as some people, because our league position is pretty much what I expected so far. Win the next couple and i'll be back to thinking it's a great start, lose them both and i'll be starting to think it looks like a disappointment. That's just how it works I suppose.

Nah

At some point the club need to stop bottling every game where they have an opportunity do something decent. No one should be chilled until there is a big improvement. No one should be happy or comfortable with our position after taking 6 points from 5 games. If performances like Sunday continue to be tolerated then things will never improve. No other top team would accept it and just say it's one of them.

Well of course people wouldn’t be questioning his decisions that cost us the game if they didn’t cost us the game?

Its not one game though, we haven't won a home league game in 5, and the performances have been shocking to go with it.

Fans are right to question him just as other managers have been questioned, he shouldn't get a free ride because he is Carlo Ancelloti.

I am realistic enough to understand that we aren’t going to win every game, but the performances in both those games were very bad.
It’s probably not so much the result that has people asking questions, it’s the 2 really appalling performances in both those games.

It's all about balance, questioning decisions and performance I have no problem with, it's the wanting to change the a manager after a few bad games or suggesting he hasn't got a clue that I have a problem with... Not yourself but certain other posters...

I know that. But its just testament to how bipolar we can be. Like I am disopointed with Fulham. But I know for a fact we won that game we would be mad giddy and be talking about champions league and rightly so.

I think we will improve up the table. We have lots of hard away fixtures left. Carlos specialty. We will improve once Carlo gets more players in.

No one with any ounce of common sense would want a new manager. I wouldn't mind a new playing squad though.....

I just don't think it's fair to expect everyone to just accept the fact we've been battered at home to a team who are almost certainly going down. You can lose a match on any given day, but you can't lose 4 home games in this manner. And the performances aren't acceptable from various players.

If you tolerate rubbish like that then you will see it repeated time and time again. The fact we are seeing repeats shows there are people within the club who tolerate matches like this. I doubt it's the manager either. The club haven't backed him anywhere near enough in overhauling the squad. He picked completely the wrong team for me on Sunday because he foolishly was prioritising tomorrow. But he wouldn't have made a mistake like this if he had been given a proper squad to work with.

In the summer they need to get their act together and be ruthless with players. If most of the same players are retained and are still playing next season then there is no point having Ancelotti as manager. His hands are tied behind his back.

Got it wrong against Fulham but has worked wonders this season with that squad. Still shows we have a long way to go so fans need to stop getting carried away after a couple of decent games. He should be called out of he gets it wrong. Expect and hope for a reaction tmrw and on Saturday

The point is that we didn’t win though, we lost miserably, and chances are we’ll be sat here in a week’s time looking back at 3 defeats on the spin. Beating Fulham would’ve at least given us a bit of a free for the City game.

I don't think many people want him gone, I am questioning but I don't want him gone, I just expect more from a manager of his ability.

My biggest gripe is the football, it is awful and shows no signs of improving.

In a way cause its a game in hand still kinda is. But its a tough ask. We tend to be winning the games or gettong results in games we give ourselves no chance in this season. And of course lose the ones we are most confident. Hopefully the form continues this week.

Or maybe people should be questioning players who play with a decent (and only decent) level of intensity one week then not the next. For weeks now we've got results more because of other teams short comings rather than our level of performance.
