i don’t think it’s a process of 14 months. He was working with rubbish that was playing rubbish before he came. The season ground to a halt and to be honest I don’t know that anybody was even arsed what was being done after the season started again. He has had this season with some of his approved changes as far as I’m concerned and we are just over half way into that and statistically on course for 61pts I believe even if I think we will fall short of that. In some moments, games and patches of the season we look improved and a different team to what we have been watching the last few years. However, of zero surprise to me, we are still crap in some games.

you can surely set about a template though?

I am fully behind him because he's better than anything we could get and he's the best thing about the club in terms of footballing experience and quality, along with James.

But... when he gets pretty simple stuff badly wrong like he did the other night, that compounds the frustration. And then with his little quirks and weird decisions with his subs, and when he makes them etc etc... and then, it does not help that we just simply do not create enough.

Create chances, and the quality we have will score goals. I'm not asking for the world, I'm asking to see that we have more than one route to goal. I don't see that, and that's a bit of a concern because it piles so much pressure on the defence.

I get that but again I don't really think it matters who is taking the shot, it was a fairly easy save and he didn't make it. I mean the Tielemans one was also bad but is it less bad because he's not as good a player and had less space to hit it? For me the answer is no.

Pickford fully at fault for Tielemans' goal.

He's not fully at fault for this.

They really are different. But yes, he should do better - the final straw in a pile of crap for that move.

The one thing that bugs me is the continuous goals we concede from giving space on the left edge of our box (tends to be Davies defending this space).

It’s not necessarily Davies’ fault but I think Allan’s pace helps in these situations.

Twice against United, and twice again tonight we conceded from it.

Hopefully it’s something Carlo is seeing and we can work on.

I do tend to think that we'll see us go on another run of 3-4 wins in the league, and that might be enough to secure top 7/8.

But, it could and should have been much better.

With the money spent, and the money Carlo is on, we should be having different ways of creating threats on a consistent basis. We should be able to build spells of pressure in games and move the ball quicker.

I know we need better players, but how many overhauls can the squad go through?

I said at the time the derby was the worst game I've seen us play this year and I don't think the performances since in the league even matched that game
I thought we were fine in the derby. We played an open game against a good team and got a draw that wasn't totally undeserved even if we were slightly worse on the day.

First half we done great. Defended well and went in with the lead. We went 2-1 down and he made some mad subs. You don’t take Davies off with his energy and leave that Icelandic tit on against city.

Looking through the results this season and I can honestly say we’re so so lucky to be where we are now, lucky win against wolves and Sheffield United, lucky point at home to Leicester, Man U, lucky 3 points first time out against Fulham probably a few more even lucky against Rotherham. Tonight was always going to be hard but in general we’re playing poor football, it’s not good to watch (apart from Leeds and spurs games) , we prioritise on defending and sitting deep, we create maybe 3 proper chances at the very most per game. This season will be wrote off shortly in my eyes and the main focus will be getting new players in for Carlo’s make or break season next year
The Liverpool game, six games into the season. Got a few injuries and it’s like he’s kind of gone full on defence since. People wondering why goals dried up for DCL - we create few chances and there’s nobody within 40 yards of him. People wonder why Richarlison has a face on and isn’t bangin them in - he’s played majority of the season as a defensive left midfielder.

I’ve been surprised how defensive he’s set up a lot this season, not even really tried to play with the ball - stuff i’d have been going mad at Moyes or night Sam for. Ultimately just don’t think he trusts the players, particularly in midfield. He knows a player though for sure so just have to let him get in players he wants and ship out the hangers on.

Set up was right to double up on the wings but got unlucky with Mina injury and defection however City just toyed with us.

Went for it after the 2nd but wrong subs:
Davies - Sigurdsson
Iwobi - Doucoure (on a yellow)

Hopefully our away form continues on Saturday.

There’s around 12-14 clubs that play better football than us
100% , he has clearly copied this football from the Sam Allardyce book of football! One coach gets called a genius for it and the other gets chased out of the club.

Like I said in another thread, those saying he cant manage a team without world class players or big budgets, like at Everton, are being proven right at the moment.
