Good point, that's the only real reason I'm not convinced on Landon yet.

Great player but I do hate americans and I'm not sure I can stand it if we get any more yankee fans.

At least the French have the decency to disown their players when they come over here.

Popcorn at the ready.....

I say yankees, to refer to Americans, sometimes. This is news to me that it's offensive though. I just use it in the same way I'd call British people Brits.

I'll think twice now; nothing worse than causing offense when it's unintentional.

people in the south would hate to be called a yankee since it was the nickname for people from the northern states during the civil war... a whole lot of the south is still bitter they lost that one.

Well you would be surprised how many people in this country get pigeon holed to one place. Anyway I agree. The American's I know are decent folk. But you have to admit that sometimes they are a cliche, but then I suppose we have them with skanky fat bitches wearing their pj's to asda and curlers in their hair. I [Poor language removed] you not.

just like all brits have disgusting teeth right? :P certainly we Americans share some similar characteristics, but there are just as many differences between someone from NY and Alabama as there are between America and England.

I liked studying American history from the early 20th century, and around the wars. That was fascinating. And I've learned a good bit about George Washington from all the American TV I've watched :P

the best brit of all time.

Back to the cash thingy :)

Smallish trading loss of 6.3m last time out- regain a little of that loss hopefully despite probable lower turnover - see how we are Jan in terms of league places and might just be the time to secure a player if we looking like near Top 4 material.

Everton
Players Purchased £105,050,500
Players Sold £80,100,000
Nett £24,950,500
Per Season £3,118,813

Since Moyes took over.

Thems the fachts guys, its not gonna change anytime soon.

Sell to buy has always been the way with Kewnrong.

When Moyes says we have no money, he really does mean it.

So if we hadnt have cocked up and gave Gosling away, Moyes could have double his spending power this Season, I bet hes well happy.

This Kenny Huang bloke is allegedly willing to clear 237 million quid in debt to get the RS -- that would go a long way to building us a new stadium. They still need a new stadium on top of the debt and eventual selling price. So you're closing in on one billion pounds to get control and build a new stadium (nevermind new players). We arguably have just as good a team (some would say better). Yeah they have a bigger worldwide name but that hasn't helped them avoid finishing out of the CL spots and it hasn't helped them get enough money to build a stadium. Chelsea (or City) weren't major names prior to takeovers.

I know some people are wary of Chinese (or Russian or Middle Eastern) billionaires and all this "don't want to win that way" ... but we can't rustle up enough to buy an MLS player for crying out loud.

Oh well ... 24/7.

For the most part, those that might take offense are those that still refer to the Civil War as the "War of Northern Aggression" and think the North is jam full of elitist intellectual Democrat/Socialists. Don't think you'll smudge any American here by calling them a Yank but do as you must.

Dont know if thats true or not as there were figures of 5 mill per season a while back, but if it is - is that really bad management of the club. When tbh took over from Johnson the wage to debt ratio was something ridiculous like 90% where now we're at something just over 50% (Matt?). Intrestingly the majority of debt that loans have been taken out and secured against were inherited from the previous regime and when you look at the amount of debt the present board has taken out in comparitative terms to other PL teams its minascule, under 20 mill i beleive. This in light of compleatley recycleing a sqaud from dross to quality, reduceing the age profile and potentialy making a huge resalable profit on the squad in temrs of long term sustainabilty (hence no Donovan). Clearly we need investment to progress not just as a team but as a club, but in light of circumstances there is an arguement to be made that Everton are one of the best run clubs in the PL and have been for a while. We are in very safe hands.

Its ridiculous assessing a board on what they spend on a team in the year when you compleatley disregard the circumstances of how operating turnover is spent.

Does spending a billion make you a good chairman or a board, City and Chelsea loose money hand over fist. Does spending 250 mill on players make you a good manager? Ask Rafael, Hugehs etc.

Does getting the most out of all your available resources hence vlaue for money make you a good board and a good manager!!

Abosultley.

Count me as one who doesn't take offense at the term Yank unless it's meant as an insult, in which case I'll probably laugh at it anyway cuz it's not much an insult.

More to the point, I always get a laugh when people say things like "I hate Americans" as if we're all exactly the same. In case you haven't noticed, America is a fairly large place with every single nationality, ethnicity, and viewpoint represented. So basing your feelings towards 307 million people based on a sample size of a few academics (not exactly your typical sports fan anyway) is pretty funny to me, more than offensive. Plus, by definition, the "Yanks" on this board are EXACTLY the type of people you can talk sport with because we're all here because we love and support Everton. So you're pointing your gun in our direction seems a little misguided. Finally, I wouldn't base my impressions of any nationality based on the way they act on vacation. Trust me, if you care at all about English national pride, you wouldn't want me judging you lot on how you act on holiday over here. Come to the US and you'll find that most of us are pretty nice open people, but yes most them won't give a damn about English football, any more than most of you don't give a damn who's going to win the Super Bowl this year, but diversity is what makes people interesting, not sameness.

In terms of loans to financial institutions It's <45%. And as it's fixed rate secured finance it's fixed rate at about £4.5 million a season.

Total liabilities (including player contracts and wages, maintenance of Goodison, Finch Farm etc ) It's still about 90%. Although wages to turnover is 62% which compares very favourably with the rest of the premier league.

So yes, compared to 2001 we're in a miracle position compared to the rest of the Premier League really. - considering where we were in 2001

I can confirm, Neiler's elbow from the top rope and Pin 1,2,3 of the Goat was good.

By that definition (and I agree) Everton are a very well run club. They need to do a better job on the commercial side re: growing revenues, but they get a lot out of not much. Without getting into the stadium debate, Everton clearly need a new stadium that allows us to maximize matchday revenues.

Neiler just pinned you there chubs, effortlessly.

Not really, the fact that he felt the need to reply to my post, a post in which I only posted figures, a post in which I didnt actually say any of it was bad, speaks volumes for me.

I merely said we needed to sell to buy.

I think the word Kewnrong must have implied bad feelings.

But I dont recall crying like a little bitch once this pre-season about us not signing players, we have signed players, albeit low price and freebies, but I expect big things from Beckford and MyGuy at least.

The key is to retain Pienaar and Arteta.

For once im not crying out for Kenwrong to spend, I just said we needed to sell to buy.

So yeah, I got "owned"? All I did was post figures.
