and so it starts.

If it’s the same money with greater incentives for better finishes while giving us freedom to sort different sponsors for the academy and ladies then it has to be a good deal. It gives us another legitimate revenue stream not tied to Usmanov. Usmanov and Moshiri haven’t become wealthy by being stupid and I imagine that they have thought of ways that we haven’t even fathomed to increase revenue. If UEFA had relaxed FFP for the year I think you may have seen a different usm or megafon deal but because it is still in place we are being a bit more cute and opening different revenue streams that will show we have increased revenue from a number of different streams that don’t all originate from our Uzbekistani Overlord. It also wouldn’t surprise me if we have another similar break clause allowing us out the deal if we are on target for a decent European finish next year to allow us to increase revenue again.

I didn’t say it was a leap forward, I said it was progress, for the reasons I stated. I’m not quite sure what people were expecting us to announce, that would make them not fume over it.
No I know, you said it was way better than what we were getting a few years ago and I just pointed out that it wasn’t. Again, I’m not saying it should be, just trying to be objective by saying it actually isn’t an improvement on our previous deal, and that was negotiated by a bloke that the world and his wife called completely incompetent. The truth is, it’s just what our value is in the market, but a lot of people who wouldn’t accept that when Kenwright and Elstone said so now accept it no questions asked.

All these deals will be torn apart until the likes of Bill Kenwright and DB are still involved in the club.

I can’t trust anything they do why the he’ll they’re still here baffles me.

Well we all know why William is still here don’t we lads?

If you’re over the age of 10 and you would wear a football top in public on a non-match day then you want putting on a watch list regardless.

As if you wouldn't wear a football top. What are you, some suit wearing Tory Biff?

This is daft.

You don't win trophies and become a big club by signing up to a company with loads of twitter followers. You become big by winning things.

Followers on social media for the CLUB is important (ish). How many followers the sponsor has got makes zero difference whatsoever. Nobody buys Yokohama tyres and decides to support Chelsea because of it.

The kit thing is miles off too. Have explained that loads already though.

It is the point being made.

We could have a nike kit sponsored by coca cola. Only Everton fans are going to buying it unless we become a great side whilst wearing it.

Even then that is no guarantee. Nobody but Leicester fans is buying a Leicester shirt and they have adidas kits and won the league not so long ago. Sustained success is what leads to more shirt sales, not the make.

If you work in marketing and have no concept of brand awareness, let alone brand synergy - remind me never to hire your company.

One of those names is still involved and his pick for replacing Elstone is our chief executive “his little miss dynamite”.

Moshiri should have cleared the lot of them out but if he ever had the intention to do that he wouldn’t have been allowed to come on board.

Until Kenwright goes one way or another this club will always have his shadow of incompetence hanging over it.

My point was that we haven't done much to increase their exposure. No European football for instance.

I had never heard of them but I think I read earlier in this thread that they are a new British based only company so there is no need yet for European exposure?

Marginally less than SportPesa but isn't a betting company which everyone wanted gone. Logo is inoffensive and simple too so no kit ruining which is good.

Getting more than what we had in a pandemic induced global recession after restricting ourselves from one of the biggest markets (betting firms) is pie in the sky stuff.

I'm happy the club has moved away from betting and retained most of the money despite the climate. The premier brands everyone wants for kit makers, sponsors etc will not be realistic until we are much, much better on the pitch.

Everything follows success. You don't become desirable and then successful it is only the other way around.
