never ever have I understood this.
the thumbs up makes it look like it was great, when infact the passer was not able to pass a ball correctly... and he's probably getting paid north of 50k a week.... to pass footballs.
I much preferred Lukaku’s method of pointing to the floor 2 ft infront of him.

I would be shouting to get it right not thank them for trying. they practise this all week, and are getting paid copious amounts of money as PRO footballers ..
I understand the 'thumbs up' on the sunday league pitches, but not professional players doing it.
Yeah but it's basically saying "not right that time but keep doing it, that's what I'm after" - rather than head goes down and they play sideways for the next 80 minutes or whatever.
I don't have a problem with it personally.
